Doulas play a crucial role in supporting pregnant individuals and their families during childbirth, offering emotional and physical assistance. The topic of doulas encompasses petitions advocating for increased access to doula care, especially for marginalized communities facing disparities in maternity care. Petitions often highlight the benefits of doula support, such as reduced rates of interventions and better maternal health outcomes.
One petition calls for Medicaid coverage of doula services to ensure that all individuals have access to this valuable support during pregnancy and childbirth. Another petition raises awareness about the racial disparities in maternity care and urges for policies that address these inequities.
Join the movement to support doula care and promote better maternal health outcomes for all. Your involvement can help make doula services more accessible and equitable for expectant parents in need.
I’m not pregnant and have not had a baby yet but I have learned so much through this account and feel so excited to know there are more options than just hospital birth. I thought the only way to birth was with an epidural. I was never taught any of this. I thought the only position you could give birth in was on your back. I’m 25 years old now and have learned so much because of access to this knowledge and imagery. It is not sexual, it is not explicit, it is the most natural thing in the world and hiding this info places shame on it. Make it accessible. Have it pop up on someone’s feed so one day it’s normal and not taking anyone by surprise.
I care about this issue because this account shows us what doctors in big hospitals won’t tell us about birth and our birthing options. We don’t always need a hospital birth for a safe and effective delivery!
