Well it finally happened to me…I have a client in labor and Memorial Medical Center won’t let me in. Since I am not a provider at that facility…I am subject to the visitor policies. (I guess that’s another way to keep externally trained professionals out of their space). Of course the rationale used is COVID but I also informed them that I am vaccinated and have no issue complying with all PPE requirements.

My client is scared, stressed, and understandably upset that her chosen professional support is being prohibited from entering the facility.

So here I sit…helpless…dressed…ready to go…making phone calls to hospital administrators on a Sunday morning. #frustrated

FYI: Las Cruces expecting families, your doula is not recognized as a professional by any hospital in SNM. It happened AGAIN in the blink of an eye.

My heart is a broken   for this client; who needs her doula. Fuck this system.
