Dog parks are popular recreational spaces where dogs can socialize and exercise off-leash. These parks play a vital role in promoting community bonding and providing a safe environment for pets to play freely. Recent trends show an increase in the number of dog parks being established in urban areas to cater to the growing pet population.
Key issues and themes in petitions related to dog parks include calls for more accessible and well-maintained facilities, improved safety regulations, and the promotion of responsible pet ownership. One petition with thousands of signatures advocates for better waste management at dog parks to ensure cleanliness and hygiene. Another petition highlights the need for designated small dog areas to create a safe space for smaller breeds.

This is not just a dog park. It is an intergenerational community meeting spot, with a most spectacular, wild, natural environment. It provides peace and brings mental wellness for so many. It offers a walk through nature, unlike anything nearby, offering the chance to bird watch and sit on the benches amd take in the sights and sounds- it's distance from the noise of the town and traffic makes it especially meditative.
It allows the dogs to socialize as well as the people We are both creatures who need high amounts of socializing, even us introverts And an opportunity to roam free and enrich ones's senses, dogs and people alike.
I encourage you deepen your commitment to the health and wellness of your
community, and support the benefits of having access to this particular park. Data show when humans spend time in nature, all of our health markers improve.
This park brings people and dogs togetber, yes. And it offers a guarenteed improved health amd wellness for the surrounding
community .
Please find a third pathway solution to keep this open.
Closing it seems to be a very narrow solution. I have faith in your creativity amd commitment to the civic well being of your people. Thank you.
Repair Linda Dog Park, and, explore additional locations for off-leash dog parks in Piedmont as well. I think it is clear that many Piedmont families include their dogs as important parts of their household. Off-leash dog parks provide an opportunity to build and strengthen our community.
My anxious dog Lopo learned to socialize at this dog park. He originally stood around awkwardly and then after a few times, learned to join in, then he started making real dog friends that he would whine to go in and play with, now he cries every time we walk by the (locked) gate. I agree that erosion needs to be addressed, but there has to be an alternative dog park proposed or close off sections and slowly remediate. It doesn’t make sense to take this community amenity away. It strengthens both human and dog bonds!
Louisville where I grew up and lived for 25 years is unique largely because of it's parks and green spaces. We live in Scott County now, but go to Louisville often to visit dear friends and family. The park system, thanks primarily to Olmstead's plans provides places to breathe, to enjoy what the green spaces provide as respite from the concrete jungle. It's beyond reason to fill them up with more concrete. Pickleball may be fun, but simply enjoying the quiet spaces provided by Mother Nature. PLEASE don't spoil it. 🙏
