People with severe disabilities cannot work. I have friends and coworkers who can no longer work because they are physically unable to do their jobs. They rely on Medicaid to pay for medical expenses. Others who cannot afford insurance for their children rely on Medicaid so they can be seen promptly and have vaccines to help prevent serious illness and death. Removing SNAP from low income families will mean children and seniors and disabled people go hungry. I don't care about a tax break when it comes to protecting the most vulnerable among us. They worked and paid into the system and when they need benefits, those need to be available.
Not everyone can have a high paying job. This is going to be hard for a lot of families. Kids won't have snacks anymore. Cause who is packing fruit and veggies on a trip. No one. People with hypoglycemia or diabetes are being looked over. The fact that people let politicians spread a stereotype that people on gov assistance don't work is disgusting. They know very well we have to provide proof of income but yet encouraging people to kick us when we are down anyway. It's already embarrassing some of us have to depend on it for groceries supplements much less make us feel even more like second class citizens by limiting what we are allowed to buy.
People are already struggling cut Medicare and food stamps is not a good strategy when food is still expensive. Unless you want people without. Medicare or food stamps who are already barely getting by.
I have a family member in long term care at a memory facility. We had to sell his house and use the income to pay full coverage. When this money runs out will the state/federal dollars be there to help? This is a very punitive approach to th health care system.
I have a Rare Cardiac Disease-I’m a single mom to a daughter w/Masters in Nutrition. Without Medicare/Medicaid I wouldn’t be here to watch her achieve. My daughter was on Medicaid growing up. Without it where would we be? I’d be gone….
My husband is a Pediatrician at a practice where 80% of their patients are on state medical. If Medicaid is cut, this will have a detrimental effect on their ability to serve underprivileged children in SW Washington! ALL children deserve healthcare, not just children who are born to wealthy families.
Americans work very hard and we should not cut snap benefits to pay for over a trillion dollars of the workers of America money to give to the oligarchs. They don’t need more money? It’s the workers and children, and disabled and seniors that need these services to survive. It’s enough of the greed, it’s time the rich pay their fair share.
I recently had to get Medicaid as I had to quit my job to care for my adult disabled sister. I am too young for Medicare. I really need this resource and making cuts and/or changing the requirements is not fair for so many caregivers in the same situation.
I have an Autistic daughter. She will run off and even if you tell her to stop she will not stop. If you grab at her she will recoil or possibly even push you away with one arm and say no.
Her only chance if she encounters a police officer is either that she is still very young, the officer doesn’t attack because she is a girl, or the officer is properly trained and never jumps straight to action.
I can’t even put myself in my friends shoes. Both his son and daughter are autistic and like my daughter it’s bad. They are both non compliant. So he has a boy that is dark skinned and at some point that boy is going to be tall and teenage. I’m worried about cops attacking my daughter especially after seeing that cop who body slammed that 100LB teen into concrete with no provocation. It’s worse for men and it’s worse for dark skinned people.
