It's the poorest of society that face the unfairness of Court Summons , Bailiffs and Jail never the most rich of society because they can afford the to pay bills and have better access to mental health care often through private providers . Those that suffer Mental health and can't keep on top of things are dismissed as scum of society that dont want to pay . Well let Mr tell you until more is done to help this portion of society they will continue to suffer the most and give the Courts money they don't have and I don't see how throwing a mentally ill person into jail does anything to help problems with payment. As usual social injustice prevails just as much as it ever has if not more !

I was in receipt of fully benefits for the whole of last year, was not helped or advised by anyone on what to do, no letters, so I assumed that as my housing benefit was only partially paid for by myself the council tax would be sorted, Nov rolled round with a letter for court action, I called to explain everything, my mental and physical health was told that is no excuse and if I'm able to scroll social media I'm more than able to pay a full years council tax with no discount, even though I was on benefits, so now paying back a whole year of band B on a 2 bed flat. I've since filled out forms for this year, it's been 2 months and heard nothing back

How can Hounslow council expect a person on the minimum UC income of £400 per month to pay the equivalent amount in Council Tax? A whole months income when you're barely surviving as it is. No help. No advice. No time to find any. No chance. Summons sent. Court costs added on. Not allowed to appear at the summons. Only a video link if you manage to arrange it in advance. Good luck to all of those suffering with their mental health having to deal with this madness.

We are being charged double council tax because we cannot currently find a buyer for my deceased mothers home due to the government trashing the housing market
