In the blink of an eye families have been destroyed. Literally blown to bits and pieces. Women and children making up the larger percentage. Anyone with a moral compass can see that the excuse of tit for tat and the right to defend yourself has become a cliché. The genocide in Gaza has been desensitized by Western media to the point that it has become taboo to speak of. Staying silent is being complicit. Adding your voice for Palestine maintains your dignity and self-respect. The Caribbean shouldn’t be bullied into staying silent and accepting the injustices of Israel and its proxies. All countries are being watched on the world stage, the Caricom countries need to show where there permanent historical support will be.

I have visited Curaçao three times and want to come back, but what is happening at Playa Piskado really bothers me. I have traveled to many Caribbean islands and have never seen a place where people are allowed to treat sea turtles this way. As tourism grows in Curaçao it will only get worse if it is allowed to continue. If the turtles are too unhealthy to nest, it will impact their numbers. In other words, this isn’t a sustainable form of tourism. Please do something to protect the turtles!

It was absolutely horrifying how this local guy on the pier slams a stick on the pier to call in the turtles. He literally shoves fish in their mouth, even if the turtle doesn’t want to, then he grabs them and will rub the turtle on people. These turtles are extremely obese and they can’t hunt for themselves anymore. I was shocked to see this is still happening in 2025! This needs to stop!
