It is heart breaking to see great and caring people deported for none other than the fact they were not blessed to be born here. The diversity of this country is what has made us great. All of us comes from an immigrant who came here for a better life. Deport criminals. Not good citizens. Give them a path way to citizenship. And honor our commitment.

Navigating our broken immigration system is nightmare, even when you are doing everything right. The time is more important than ever that we offer citizenship to our Temecula community members who have been waiting for years.

My great grandparents immigrated to the US and now that my grandpa and dad are deceased I want to carry on our heritage for myself and my family.

As an Italian American who recently applied for Italian citizenship, this new law would disqualify me. I speak fluent Italian and have lived in Italy in the past. I practice Italian customs ans traditions in my home and and I would like to move there, make films there, vote and be a part of Italian community in all ways. This summer I was going to visit Sicilia and look for ideal cities to reside. Without a pathway to citizenship, especially for those of us who speak Italian and plan to live to be active in the arts and creating jobs in those indistries for other Italians, it is heartbreaking to discover something that would benefit us all is no longer an option.

My family left Italy around the first world war. We have always held our roots close but there has not been an opportunity to go back. For the last 4 years I have been working on my application and gathering documents to be recognized as a citizen and trying to learn the language better than what my grandmother imparted before she passed away. This is about my identity and where my people come from and to change the requirements overnight is just wrong. I have been planning on building a life for myself and my family reconnecting with out heritage and being good citizens of Italy, and we would like for that dream to come true still.

My Great-Grandfather came to the US from Italy and It is a dream of mine to get my dual citizenship. I just can't afford to apply yet. I hope this law doesn't pass so that when I finish graduate school I can apply. It would be life changing to have access to dual citizenship.

I have an immense amount of pride in my Italian heritage. My great grandmother and great grandfathers were both born there and our lineage goes back from there by birth. My desire to apply for Italian citizenship is to increase my connection to my family’s homeland, spend more time in Italy, and expand the influence of Italian culture in my life and my family’s life. It expands the potential for me to invest back in Italy in a more significant way than an occasional vacation. Please reconsider the law regarding Italian citizenship.

My great grandparents came to the United States through Ellis Island, planted roots in NYC, and built a life and a family in this country. My Italian heritage is extremely important to us and we have been gathering materials to proceed with dual citizenship for over a year now. This news is devastating and we hope you will reconsider.
