The dog and cat meat trade involves the farming, sale, and slaughter of these animals for human consumption, a practice particularly noted in some regions of South Korea and China. This trade raises significant animal welfare concerns due to often inhumane conditions and treatment of the animals involved. Efforts to end this trade focus on closing illegal farms, markets, and slaughterhouses associated with it.

There are campaigns aimed at improving legal protections for cats by advocating for stronger animal welfare laws. These efforts include proposing and supporting legislation to prevent cruelty, such as anti-declaw bills, and generally seeking to enhance regulations that safeguard cats from abuse and neglect in various regions.

Illegal farms and markets related to the cat meat trade often operate without oversight, leading to poor conditions and mistreatment of animals. Closing these facilities is crucial to preventing cruelty, reducing the trade in cat meat, and enforcing animal welfare laws that protect cats from harm and exploitation.

In certain countries, such as South Korea and China, cultural traditions include the consumption of cat meat, which affects attitudes toward cats and their treatment. These cultural practices complicate efforts to change legal and social norms, as advocates must address deeply ingrained beliefs and customs alongside animal welfare concerns.
This must stop. All pets deserves a loving home, they do not ask to be in this situation. The government needs to take action to stop animal owners from dumping animals, and look at introducing neutering projects to lower the amount of unwanted puppies being brought into the world!
I am a former NJ resident and part of a TNR program in the city I lived in and had a small colony that I took care of. I was a NJ resident when this bill first came around. I supported it then as I do now. Community cats need help! And also the advocates for them.
TNR works! I did it years ago in my neighborhood at my own cost. Keeping animals from being born in the wild is a lot easier than trying to keep them fed and healthy.
As a former long time resident of NJ I see the extreme need for low cost spay/neuter. It is so expensive to care for a family/pet. Help with spay/neuter would reduce the animal over population.
i met jess a few years ago, before her health troubles began, and was always hearing about noel and juniper. keeping a person from having their pets is cruel, especially when the reason for rehoming in the first place is outside their control. jess deserves to have the comfort of juniper back in her life!
So much for friends and family. It is bad enough she has endured this illness and lasting effects but to keep her feline family from her because they feel they are superior? It is cruel and unacceptable. Legal help may be needed but I hope Juniper will be "home" soon.
This program would help so many more animals get a chance at finding a home. The Coles county animal shelter isn't very big and can only hold so many animals, too many animals are being euthanized at no fault of their own and this would help save lives
Kirsten Moxley has been a strong advocate for many animals here in Coles County, that otherwise, lives would have ended way too soon. This would be a huge help to our community. She was able to foster & save the lives of these 6 animals in less than 1 month & will be able to save many, many more lives. She fights more than anyone I know, for the furbabies & with this program, the sky would be the limit! Please be the voice for all of the animals who would otherwise face a far to early death. Help them to live.. they all deserve a loving home & a long, happy life!
