I think this is so wrong. The main school is 11-16 years old and girls, in fact anyone, in this age range are more likely to start to hate their bodies and could have body dismorphia or eating disorders or something else. It's already enough of a struggle for people our age going through these sorts of things alone, but having to get changed and have you body be seen by other people is just wrong. I feel like it has been normalized as "Many schools do this" and "We're one of the only schools that still doesn't get changed at school" (a teacher's words, not mine) but this is a huge issue that teachers don't realise. You can't just shove 30 children together and expect them to get half-naked in front of eachother and feel comfortable. It won't work. Who knows how many of those kids struggle with their body image, or get bullied? It is also very unfair to make people carry their uniforms around. I hope this petition works, and that nobody will have to go through this uncomfortable, humiliating experience. People in our school get bullied enough just because of their personalities or hobbies or just being theirself. Many people struggle with bullying, and the bullies seeing their body will most likely make it worse, and make the person more upset. This needs to change.
Realistically, the school never favours their students. The teachers are invalidating, invasive and quite frankly cruel. If you don’t think about the students for a second, think about how scary it could be as a girl to get dressed in front of other girls
this new rule will cause so much bullying and shaming in general, more than usually happens at this school, especially for those with insecurities, disabilities, or those who are openly trans. ESPECIALLY since these kids are already bullied a lot. this school is brutal with not only students but also teachers bodyshaming and encouraging kids to be 'healthy' while shaming us for what we eat.
this new rule is frankly stupid for many reasons. it will waste time, it'll give people much more to carry (especially those who need to bring their cadets uniforms in too), the previously mentioned bullying, and don't even get me started on the kids in my year who have literally sexually assaulted other kids in my year and gotten away with it
it's inconvenient, unsafe, and quite frankly just stupid
This is so unfair I do go a different school in Kettering but we get to come in in our pe kit. We do have to get changed if we get really wet but that’s very rare. Girls should be able to feel comfortable and safe in school especially since it’s an all girls school instead of having to get changed and feel uncomfortable which I’m pretty sure most girls would feel. I hope this petition goes well and wish all Southfields’s girls get what they deserve xx
social media has truly crushed teenage girls body image, with all the instagram posts and videos online painting a certain image of the way our bodies “should look like”. insecurities build up and you’re seriously making us show our bodies infront of others? i understand maybe other schools do it, but other schools aren’t girls schools. ever thought of that? do better abeg
