EDITED VERSION. Hey Team!! It is with great sadness to hear that the park we love is no longer having an off leash section. Due to some very untrue allegations. My darling girl has been at this park because Hurstville off leash is not kept clean or maintained. The city parks are to far & OLDS park is not an off leash park. We all live in this area keep it well maintained. We have all different cultures here & beliefs I feel this is personal. Some cultures or religious beliefs don’t like animals & I feel this why we have had the park taken away. I spoke to many council who are friendly & have been kind to my dog & in return she & I are too. This was the council guys who took the gate off. How are we meant to live in harmony if people can’t put their personal views aside. We all have a great relationship with one another around here we are ALL friendly & approachable. All dog owners here are. We are happy to take this matter all the way to the top. I have video footage of many of our doggie playtimes. No one is in conflict. I post on my tictok. We have social media page. Have many followers & this park is where we take majority of our footage. This is a free county. Our animals are family. Treated like our kids. It’s not very Australian to take the one thing Australia is known for that is living and caring for our animals & having a safe play area for them. You take it all away? Then what? You have house bound animals then they become unhappy. Just like humans. Exercise is important for animals. Why have we not been able to have our say & discussing all avenues for us. Instead the matter was sorted by workers in a matter of a day. We were not allowed to speak?. I think the whole country will come down hard if they know what councils are doing. We would love to have met you all before any discussions & decisions were made without us involved. Kind regards Davina. Ps.. On a daily I get asked even while on lease if my dog can be held or moved away as many in this area don’t like dogs. Due to their beliefs. This is NOT a third world country. We need an off lease park. If someone personal view makes the final decision then we are happy to move to the next phase. Public

We’ve forgotten we live on their land that we’ve taken for our homes, businesses and roads. We need to do more to keep them safe.

These endless horror deaths of our wildlife on our roads are so emotionally traumatizing. Something has to be done to reduce or stop the road kill. There are ways to minimize these deaths. Please act now,

As a local wildlife carer I witness first hand the carnage caused on Wellington road..it is wildlife carers that are left to care for raise, rehabilitate and release the orphaned babies left behind when their mothers are killed..thankyou to all the wonderful wildlife rescuers like Lea out there 💜

It’s about protecting wildlife so our children’s children can still see them.

I am a local Wildlife Rescuer and recently attended a pouch check on Wellington Road. Thankfully, it was a male kangaroo but both legs had been completely broken. It’s head was crushed and its tail had been degloved during the presumably heavy vehicle strike. I had to try and move this poor kangaroo further to the side of the road on a busy Saturday. There needs to be more done to alert motorists and protect the wildlife along this extremely busy road.

It is not just Wellington Road, the carnage of our native wildlife is happening throughout the country. We humans have to put aside our own selfish interests (it'll cost $s, it means driving slower for brief periods) and take proven action to reduce the terrible suffering and decimation of these animals. I have driven Wellington Road for decades, and with its increased traffic and the area's urbanisation has been a huge visible increase in the destruction of wildlife. The animals suffer horrible painful deaths. It is callous of us to allow it continue while we have the means and knowledge to act. It is do-able.
