Our dog was on this food for probably 6 months or so and all of a sudden didn't want to eat anymore. He is diabetic, among other issues, so it was necessary for him to eat so he could get his insulin. We had to hand feed him and pretty much coax him to eat. One day he vomited in the morning and twice more in the afternoon. Each time it was the food that came up. We took him to the emergency hospital and they kept him and treated him for 2 days with 3 IV's in him and a diagnosis of pancreatitis. When we got him home, I read some of the reviews on the Royal Canin website and we changed his food. Immediately he started eating with no help. Was very disappointed this formula was changed with no notice to the general public.
I’ve used the food off and on for years for my girl when needed and this new formula has made everything 100% worse! Not an acceptable change for a food that people depend on when their pet is sick and already doing poorly. Did anyone even bother to recognize that there is a need for stability when it comes to specialty pet foods and we don’t pay through the nose for a prescription food to have it randomly changed. I’m assuming at the hand of the all mighty dollar - the new formula is probably cheaper to make. Shame on Royal Canin for putting our pets lives at risk changing a product we depend on to keep them well.
Our dog has been on Royal Canin Low Fat GI since birth due to his Mega Esophagus and Reflux We Just learned through research they changed their formula. Mind you: not updated information the VET should have given us, who continued to sell us this new formula! After $1300.00 @ the Emergency vet after being seen for continuous vomiting, we were told he has Pancreatitis! Please be an advocate and sign the petition to pressure Royal Canin to go back to their old formula!
