As an educator here from the lower 48, it is saddening to hear about a beautiful local school having to close because there aren’t funds. These children ARE the FUTURE how is there not enough funding to invest in those little humans?
If the state allowed it to be more available and affordable for people to move and live here this community would be flourishing and doing so well. This is a beautiful community with so much potential. Please do not take away this sense of community for the families. Let these children keep their school and routines and schedules. With not enough funds counselors are being cut while closing down a community school and disrupting these littles lives; how is removing counselors going to help theses kids transition?
Think about it- this is NOT a beneficial move. It will be a loss felt so greatly in a community that deserves to keep this school. Suicide and mental health related problems are REAL- Please I ask do not add to that-rather let’s build this community bigger and stronger. Fundraising, community events there are options to help with money.
Love is more than money can buy- let’s love these children enough to keep their hometown school.
Myself along with my three siblings and mostly all the other children in my family have all went through sterling elementary. So many connections, memories and love has came from this school and continues with each passing year. I’m still incredibly close to my kindergarten teacher as I’m sure so many are. Please don’t close down this school, the out reach to the community and love they share for the community says so much!
My 4 kids, their children and now my great grandkids are going to this school. They all have great memories. We need them to continue getting the one on one
