As a grad student, I find it frustrating that with the current situation, my loved ones couldn't be there to witness such a big milestone of my life. In addition, I don't understand why it has to be in the fieldhouse-the physical embodiment of years and years of anxiety-nor the price for the guests ticket. I've already suffered from having my high school graduations in the school's gym due to covid, why does McGill insist on leaving more regrets for the students?? To pay 50$ for my parents to be there plus 45$ of regalia that I have to return not even 3h after the ceremony is unacceptable and absurd. I am already reconsidering whether or not I will attend the convocation solely because of the cost, which is a big shame from McGill's part and a betrayal of their own graduating students.

This is unacceptable. I worked extremely hard for 5 years at McGill. I deserve to celebrate my accomplishments with my parents AND my brother. This decision shows reflects University's lack of regard towards its students for their once-in-a-lifetime occasion. For these reasons, please move the Graduation back to the Lower Campus tent.

For many in the Class of 2025, this will be the first real graduation ceremony after missing out on high school convocations due to the pandemic. This moment carries immense meaning for us and our families, and we urge the administration to treat it with the care and respect it deserves. We respectfully ask that McGill reconsider these decisions: restore the guest limit to four per student, and secure a more appropriate venue that reflects the importance of this milestone.

My family is a nuclear family with two parents and two step parents. Plus a grandma and a sister who desperately want to see their family member graduate. They should be in the room with us, we should be able to hear their encouragement and cries of happiness. With covid-19, my son did not get a high school graduation. McGill is supposed to be world reknown and needs to do better than this! This is not exceptable. Planning for grads happen over time and families should have been made aware of this months ago before reservations had to be made. Instead family members get to stand in a field like cattle to watch it streamed probably smack dab in the middle of an encampment. How is that safe?

The lack of explanation behind the reasoning for the convocation not being held in the lower field was concerning. But choosing the fieldhouse feels like a slap in the face, this is one of the most important milestones of my life

2020 was meant to be a milestone year—my daughter’s graduation. But then COVID struck, and celebrations were put on hold. Now, we look forward to her Convocation day, finally surrounded by the people who matter most, with no limits on joy—or on numbers. Thank you.

having enough tickets is so important for blended families, not everyone has only 2 parents

I bought plane tickets to attend my partner's graduation when 4 tickets were advertised MONTHS ago. She now has to choose between having her parents, grandmother, or partner when all are traveling to support her. MCGILL, DO BETTER!!

I am the first person in my family to graduate university and I am doing so with first class honors. My grandparents have already purchased non-refundable tickets to be here because, prior to 3 days ago, the website stated that we would be entitled to 4 guest tickets. I am deeply ashamed at this institutions lack of care. I would understand the inability to use the Bell Centre due to NHL playoffs but Montréal has a large number of venues and the Montreal Canadians have been eliminated, indicating that the Bell Centre would now be available. Do better instead of just apologizing, offer 4 tickets and a better venue or reimburse families for the substantial costs we’ve already invested into this event. Livestreams are not a good exchange
