Petition to Doug McMillon, Walmart
Stop the sale of guns at Walmart stores
Tuesday, July 30th, 2019: 2 people were murdered at Walmart #0848 in Southaven, Mississippi. Saturday, August 3rd, 2019: 22 people were murdered at Walmart #2201 in El Paso, Texas. In light of these recent tragedies -- a mere snapshot of the gun violence epidemic plaguing the United States -- and in response to Corporate’s inaction, we as employees are organizing several days of action, to protest Walmart’s profit from the sale of firearms and ammunition. Walmart is a company that has always placed its associates and customers first; we have recently made great strides toward fostering a safe, inclusive, and progressive community. Last year, Walmart raised the minimum age to buy a firearm or ammunition from 18 to 21. In 2015, Walmart removed products resembling assault-style rifles from its inventory. Nonetheless, Walmart remains one of the largest retailers of firearms in the United States, and there is a direct correlation between the number/availability of guns and the amount of mass shootings per capita. Yes, we have made great strides already, but now we must organize to shape this company into a place that we can all be proud of. As associates, we can and must leverage our power and ability to change our company for the better. We have one demand, and that is all. We value Walmart and our fellow associates, but we are no longer willing to contribute our labor to a company that profits from the sale of deadly weapons. We would like to see Walmart take a unified and public stance against guns and gun violence. We urge our leadership to cease the sale of all firearms and ammunition, ban the public open and concealed carry of weapons on company property and in all stores, and cease WALPAC donations to NRA backed -A/A+ politicians. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us at email@example.com

Make it Illegal for Congress to accept money from lobbyists such as the NRA.
STOP SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS FROM BUYING OUR LAWS! In light of the recent mass shooting at a high school in Parkland, Florida, any tolerance of waiting for Congress to act on stronger gun control laws for this country has been lost. One glaring reason why nothing has come to fruition on this issue, and many other issues in this country, is the shameful act of lobbyists rewarding our senators and representatives in Congress with large sums of money to influence our laws – or lack of them – in favor of their own special interest. The NRA, for example, is a gun lobby that pays out millions of dollars to our politicians to prevent gun control laws from going into effect, and pushes their own agenda (such as the present “conceal and carry” to make it legal to carry firearms in public places) – despite reports that more than half of Americans favor stricter legislation on gun control such as banning the sales of assault weapons, and at least 80% favor background checks. This hold over our politicians is largely due to the disastrous Supreme Court decision regarding Citizens United in 2010. But our Constitution states that “We the People” make up this country and our government is there to serve us. We elect these politicians into office to do what is right for us. Of course, we do not all agree on what is “right” – but isn’t the majority voice of the people more significant than a lobbyist /special interest group? Isn’t the safety of our people and our children paramount? It’s time to say enough is enough. Our laws are not for sale. Our lives are not for sale. Schools, places of worship, concert halls, movie theaters and other public places should not be places we fear to go. No lobbyist or special interest group should be permitted to “buy” the laws of our country. Only the American people should decide our political future – not the NRA, the oil companies, the pharmaceutical companies or any other lobbyists. Therefore, we sign this petition demanding legislation that it be declared illegal for Congress or those holding any political office to accept monetary compensation in any form from any lobbyist or special interest group, including for campaigning purposes. https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2017/10/04/opinion/thoughts-prayers-nra-funding-senators.html?smid=fb-share http://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/senate-races/274093-half-of-congress-have-received-nra-donations http://news.gallup.com/poll/220637/americans-widely-support-tighter-regulations-gun-sales.aspx

Pass Common Sense Gun Control
I am a student at Marjory Stoneman Douglas HS, where the school shooting happened on 02/14/18. I am close friends with one of the victims and I want common sense gun control to be passed to prevent more families from losing loved ones in these terrible tragedies. I'm lucky that I was on the other side of the school when the shooting started and was evacuated quickly. Nick Cruz killed SEVENTEEN people, some who were freshman just starting their second semester of high school, others seniors who just committed to the colleges of their dreams. He took away their hopes and aspirations. He should not have been able to carry an assault rifle. We need to convince our elected officials that now is the time to speak up against the NRA and promote some form of gun control. They should not be worrying about how much money they will make or whether they will be re-elected. Innocent people are DYING because of gun violence. These children and heroes might be alive today. There’s a reason why other countries don’t have mass shootings and as a nation, we should work towards that. Please sign and share this petition with everyone you know. Nobody should have to face tragedies like this.

TrueCar, Drive Away From The NRA!
Founded in Los Angeles in the fall of 2017 after the mass shootings in Las Vegas and Texas, Drain The NRA is a grassroots movement that combats the gun lobby’s stranglehold on Congress by boycotting, protesting and encouraging divestment from the gun industry and its corporate partners and ultimately flipping the gun lobby's Congressional puppets. 93 Americans are killed by gun violence every day and 2017 is on record as the deadliest year for mass shootings in modern US history. We were dismayed to discover that TrueCar advertises on the NRA's website and offers its car buying services as a benefit to NRA members. By partnering with the NRA, TrueCar is aligning themselves with one of the nation’s most divisive lobbying organizations and by association endorsing the gun lobby's practices of halting sensible gun safety legislation, such as universal background checks and a ban on bump stocks, that would ultimately make our communities safer. Those who sign this petition are asking TrueCar to no longer advertise its services to NRA members and remove its page from the NRA website. We will boycott, protest and divest from TrueCar until it stands with the majority of Americans who want sensible gun safety laws and drives away from the NRA.
Petition to Christopher Wray, Secretary of Homeland Security Elaine Duke, FBI Deputy Director
Declare the NRA a supporter of domestic terrorism
The National Rifle Association (NRA) is more a political lobby than sportsmen's organization. It has spent over $3 million per year since 2013 to keep gun policies in an antiquated state despite the fact that more Americans have died from gun violence (over 1.5 million) than from all the wars since the Revolution, and now want some form of gun control. A sensible reading of the 2nd Amendment would restrict purchase of equipment designed for mass murder: large clips, military grade semi-and fully automatic rifles, and ammunition for the same, which could be as easily tracked as over-the-counter medication. Yet none of it will be regulated while the NRA effectively controls the GOP. While not a branch of government, the NRA has enormous impact on American life by coercing politicians and voters with money and intimidation, and restricting our safety and public health. Former NRA CEO and multi-millionaire Wayne LaPierre has said that "the only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun." As at Stoneman Douglas High, where three or four armed deputies waited outside during the shooting, this is rarely true and unfortunately doesn't help the shooter's victims. In Las Vegas, where over 500 people were shot with automatic gunfire, the shooter was inaccessible and shot himself before police arrived. In the wake of these horrific attacks the NRA mobilizes to enrich gun and ammo manufacturers while putting Americans at increasing risk of being shot. Domestic terrorism continues to rise in Trump era. White nationalist groups were eager to claim the shooter in Parkland as one of their own. The NRA facilitates both the arming and the militant ideology of these groups, supporting domestic terrorism. While right-wing politicians divert or attention with imagined threats from immigrants, the NRA does real harm to democracy, spreading anti-government hysteria and the idea of armed insurrection. FBI director Wray recently testified regarding the danger of armed, right-wing extremism amid growing white nationalism. The FBI should stop hesitating and brand the NRA for its leading role in providing cover for this disease. The victims of Santa Fe High (TX), Stoneman Douglas (Parkland, Fl), Sutherland Springs (11/5/17), Las Vegas (10/2/17), the 2016 Orlando shooting, Sandy Hook Elementary, Tree of Life Synagogue, Dayton, El Paso, Santa Clarita (11/14/19) and on and on deserve no less. Please sign the MoveOn.org petition, another petition seeking to designate the NRA a terrorist organization under the Patriot Act, and support the Violence Policy Center.

Ban Downloadable/Plastic Guns and Bullets
In August of 2018, a United States Federal Judge blocked Cody Wilson and his organization, Defense Distributed from releasing their 3D printed gun blueprints. However, the judge did provide Wilson with other options, such as mailing USB drives with the information on them. In addition, Defense Distributed illegally released the blueprints to the public, days before they were scheduled to be granted permission. In addition to Defense Distributed, Deterrence Dispense has become active. Unlike Defense Distributed, Deterrence Dispense has no leader, no address, and no known members. They also use peer to peer (P2P) sharing to share CAD files. Because there is no central server location, Deterrence Dispense is extremely hard to shut down. They are 100% anonymous. This makes is exceptionally difficult to take legal action against the group or shut them down. Now, we not only have loosely regulated CAD files for 3D printed guns but there are unregulated files from this new group circulating. 3D printed guns are dangerous because they can be made on demand and can bypass security checkpoints undetected. Also, they have no serial number making the guns untraceable. Kids, felons, terrorists, abusers and mentally ill people could all get their hands on an unlimited amount of guns, without a single background check. A new startup has also appeared on multiple news stations because of their frightening and absurd goal. They want to give blueprints for 3D printable bullet proof vest penetrating bullets to the public at no cost. Not only is this dangerous for citizens of the United States but this organization going under the name, Atlas Arms is also anti government and encourages the bullets to be used to murder police officers. Safe Nation demands that a bill is passed, stating that all gun and bullet blueprints are illegal to be sold or given for free in the United States. If you agree, take a minute to sign the petition because every signature counts! Safe Nation is a student led organization fighting to end gun violence. It was founded in July, 2018 and has been fighting 3D printable guns since. Text @GUNFREE to 810-10 to subscribe to text message updates! REGISTER TO VOTE! Text @FUTURE to 644-33! Request Renton VFW Post 1263 to NOT Raffle AR-15 Rifle at their Event
*The Renton VFW Post #1263 is selling raffle tickets for their fundraiser with the prize as shown on this poster - an AR-15 rifle. While the VFW is a valued organization, this fundraiser prize choice is a bad decision. *The Renton Chamber of Commerce is promoting this VFW raffle and its prize of an AR-15 rifle by including this poster in their weekly email blast to local chamber members and other community readers - a concerning decision by the Renton Chamber. *AR-15 style rifles have been the weapon of choice in many school shootings and other mass shootings - see link: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/ar-15-used-mass-shootings-weapon-of-choice-60-minutes-2019-06-23/ ***If you agree that the Renton VFW's AR-15 rifle raffle prize and the Renton Chamber's promoting of this AR-15 raffle in our local community are both inappropriate and unacceptable, please contact both of these organizations and let them know.Renton VFW Post #1263 ….425-255-9010Renton Chamber of Commerce …..425-226-4560 Note - activists like you were able to stop a similar raffle / auction of an AR-15 by the rural Stevens County Republicans last year - see linked article: https://www.spokesman.com/stories/2018/feb/20/lisa-brown-calls-on-cathy-mcmorris-rodgers-to-drop/
Petition to Kentucky State Senate, Kentucky State House, Kentucky Governor, Kentucky State Interim Judicial Committee
We The People of Kentucky Oppose Red Flag Laws
Do you believe in the United States Constitution? The Bill of Rights? If so, you must agree that Red Flag Laws violate these inalienable rights that our forefathers had the wisdom to provide for. Specifically: 1. The Second Amendment gives all Americans the right to keep and bear arms. We already have laws on the books to ensure that individuals convicted of felony crimes cannot own weapons. Red Flag Laws would remove the right from some individuals with only a court's decision that they are “at risk”, without defining what exactly that means. 2. The Fourth Amendment states that no one shall be “deprived of life, liberty or property without due process of law." Seizing the property of individuals who have been convicted of no crime violates this provision. Under Red Flag Laws, ANY person who believes you are “at risk” can report you to law enforcement and a warrant can be issued to seize your firearms without any proof at all that you are indeed “at risk” for violence. The potential for revenge reporting is great, and such reports would further burden our already burdened courts. Gun Control advocates would have you believe Red Flag Laws help stop violence but that has not been shown in states with such laws. For example, in Virginia, to stop all firearm related suicides, 12,000 confiscation episodes would be needed per year. Red flag laws enacted in CT nearly twenty years ago haven't been shown to stop a single homicide, and more than twenty people killed themselves after they were disarmed. Our Founding Fathers designed a system of government consisting of a series of checks and balances in the service of defending liberty. They knew that tyranny was an omnipresent threat, and that tyranny begins with the disarmament of the people. Tell your lawmakers to fulfill their oath to uphold our Constitution by signing the petition. I have an informational document expanding on this in the works, but I am a busy college student and haven’t completed it yet. As soon as it is finished I will link it here for your review. Even though my target audience is Kentucky residents, this petition is viewable on a national level. If you or someone you know has been affected by red flag laws, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org or send me a message on Facebook to share your story. Thank you!
