The Government need to create a support package for the people recently made redundant because of Covid. This should be a monthly payment similar to the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme but paid direct to the person to tide them over until more work can be found.

These families fall into NETSO (Not Enough To Survive On)

Many who are recently redundant would still be in work if not for the pandemic. They were working taxpayers and contributing to society and have been forced into a very difficult position with no possibility of new work. Most will be home owners who get no support from universal credit and will only qualify for basic JSA which does not cover basic food let alone bills. They need support rather than being forced into debt when all they did was try their hardest. Furlough isn't working now as businesses cant afford their share. It could help employers take on new staff to retrain them ready for the return of the economy

This scheme should operate until at least April 2021. The payment could replace UC or JSA on a temp basis for those who have lost their job due to Covid, and would end as soon as they find permanent work.
