Make Juneteenth a Nationally Recognized Holiday

Join the effort to declare Juneteenth a national federal holiday. Juneteenth (June 19, 1865) is the day all slaves were proclaimed free. Union general Gordon Granger read federal orders in Galveston, Texas, declaring all previously enslaved people in Texas were free. Although the Emancipation Proclamation had formally freed them almost two and a half years earlier, and the American Civil War had largely ended with the defeat of the Confederate States in April, Texas was the most remote of the slave states, with a low presence of Union troops, so enforcement of the proclamation had been slow and inconsistent. This day in our history was nearly 90 years after the Declaration of Independence was adopted. Independence Day commemorates America’s freedom on a day when not all African-Americans were given that same freedom, and for this reason LAFC and many others understand the importance of Juneteenth. Now we need the nation to do the same. Support this initiative. Our goal is 100,000 signatures. Please sign the petition and spread the word.

Make Juneteenth a State Recognized Holiday in Virginia.

Juneteenth via Wendell Lundy   Independence day is a negligent holiday in that it fails to acknowledge the fact that there were millions of Americans who were deprived of their freedom beyond July 4, 1776. It would be nearly a full century before Americans of African descent would be granted the liberty that has become America's clarion call. June 19, 1865 marks the day when all Americans became free and independent members of this great nation. As such, Juneteenth deserves equal footing with Independence Day as an American holiday.   It is only fitting that the movement to make Juneteenth a federal holiday should start here in the state of Virginia being that it is the birthplace of slavery in America. In addition, there is no better moment than this one in which we commemorate the 400 year anniversary of the arrival of the first African slaves at Point Comfort in Hampton, VA. If we can celebrate the arrival of the first African slaves, then how much more so should we commemorate the freeing of the last of the African American slaves on June 19, 1865—a day we affectionately know as Juneteenth. It is in this spirit that we petition the Commonwealth of Virginia to acknowledge Juneteenth as a state holiday with all of the honor and standing duly given to Independence Day.   Thank You. - #BLM757 aka #BlackLivesMatter757

For Ukraine to be officially recognized as a candidate state to the European Union

FR l IT l ESHave you ever had the chance to walk through the streets of Kyiv, Lviv, Kharkiv, Odesa, and other Ukrainian cities? You don't feel out of place at all. You feel at home very quickly. Ukraine is a European country and Ukrainians are asking for official recognition of their aspiration to join the European Union.  We are citizens of the European Union, of Ukraine, and of other countries. Ukraine's membership in the European Union is a matter of course for us. We call on our fellow citizens of the European Union member countries to create a wave of support for the Ukrainian people and to encourage their heads of state and government to grant Ukraine the status of an official candidate country, a crucial step in the accession process. We call on the heads of state and government of the European Union to unite for Ukraine and on the MEPs to support this will.  Since 2014, Ukraine has paid dearly for its thirst for freedom and its faith in democracy and the European ideal. It is a creative, happy, and proud nation that is very attached to democracy, freedom, and the rule of law. Its people have kept the compass of their political representatives always in this direction. This spirit of freedom inspires respect and admiration in Europe. But the Kremlin fears its success, which would then give another example of successful emancipation on the Russian border. That is why Putin's army is invading and bombing the Ukrainian territory, hitting civilians, military, and infrastructure. Despite the attacks, despite the threats, Ukrainians want to join the European Union. They show us what it means to be European: to share values and history, and to be free to choose one's destiny. The first step in the process of Ukraine's accession to the European Union is in the hands of the Heads of State and the Government of the Member States. With the expression of support from each and every one of you, we will show them that the will of the Ukrainian people to link their future to the European Union is a hope shared with the citizens of all European countries. The European aspirations of Ukraine will not fade away. Ukrainians are showing in this war inflicted by Putin, that they are fighting for their right to choose their destiny. They are asking European governments to make it clear that they want Ukraine to have a future in the European Union.  Many of us feel powerless in the face of this war. However, showing that European citizens are reaching out to Ukrainian citizens to move forward together towards a common future is a strong sign of support. Join us! With this call, we want to tell the Ukrainians that we support them and that, despite the horrible acts committed by Vladimir Putin and his army, there will be a future. And, like them, we want this future to be free, European, and with us. Let us affirm that our destiny is common and let us officially recognize Ukraine as a candidate state for EU membership. Many citizens, politicians, and artists from all over Europe already support the initiative. Make ALL Emergency Medical Services recognized as essential personnel

Please sign in support in making ALL Emergency Medical Service essential personnel. Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) of ALL levels.  Basic, Advanced and Paramedics. That in the light of this pandemic some agencies and companies, are not supporting them in the front line.  That if a EMT gets sick and exposed they have to use Personal Time Off, be it sick time or vacation. Is not just right.   They should be covered automatically in a time like this and not have to worry about a paycheck when tending to the very sick in a situation that is facing the world today.  A state bill should be made to protect these people, who are already under paid and over worked.  Some EMTs are paid minimum wage in this great state of New York.  That are not being asked to enter into homes of sick people.  Where fire fighters have unlimited sick time for having little to no patient contact.  Along with some police agencies that also have the same thing of unlimited sick.   Yet the people that are constantly in contact with multiple sick people have a very small and limited amount of sick time !!   This needs to change and change now to also protect the public.   Sick paramdics and emts report to work in fear they have no sick time and refuse to use vacation time, when they have a cold or a cough.

    Petition to World Health Organization

Trigeminal Neuralgia Needs to be Recognized

Trigeminal Neuralgia is a debilitating disease for those that suffer from its grips. The World Health Organization is doing a disservice to the medical community when they fail to recognize TN, which is quite possibly one of the most painful diseases and is often called the "suicide" disease. What will it take for such a powerful organization to understand that by ignoring such a disease, the WHO is choosing to say suffers are not worth the WHO's time or understanding? If we come together we could possibly find a cure or even an avenue as to what causes TN. Please don't ignore those who suffer greatly.
