Our names are Say, Lesly, Cassandra, and Semaj, we are sophomores attending Elsik High School in Alief, Texas .The problem is that many students at Elsik aren’t getting a say so for what their desired class is, due to that extent, slowly the attendance of students are decreasing. If the students are able to have choices that will fulfill their purpose on coming to school, then there won’t be a lack in having low attendance. Many teachers agreed with some of the students that are in their class because they think that there would be issues in teaching a class that doesn’t want to learn.
Elsik High School students are faced with the problem of going to a class they don’t like and it has nothing to do with the teachers; it’s because the class doesn’t interest the students. Students are put in classes they did not sign up for or have nothing to do with their career path. One of Elsik High school students had a few words to say about the scheduling process, “I want to be a lawyer and they put me in medical terminology“ stated Cassandra Medellin. This student is in a class that is irrelevant to her career path .
Many teachers are complaining about how students are in their class; but have no interest to be in the classroom environment . Knowing this, majority of the students at time cause major disruption to get out of class knowing they won’t have to get their work done because they aren’t there to learn it. This is a big misunderstanding that many students don’t understand, causing their grade to be low with no knowledge or benefit to their future goal.
As you know, many students enjoy their classes because they have friends they can hangout with and cheat off of. We, as students and teachers, can respect that. However, this does not benefit either of the students in any way or shape. Leading them down to a path of misfortune if the students continue down this path of no effort. However, if the students want to go to college because college costs a lot of money and the brain power to accomplish it but the students won’t be able to, due the lack of responsibility and discipline.
we hope you sign this petition to gain the attention to our principal Ms.Elzy so she can work to get us students the classes we should and want to be in. so there won't be any problems with the classes filling up, the district should hire more teachers that teach the most relevant classes so in that case we would have equal amount of students in each class.
