    Petition to Australian Parliment

Waiving separation period of divorce where domestic violence has occurred.

Domestic violence has been part of my life for longer than I care to admit. My father would fight with my mother on a regular basis. Often, it was very heated and would end up in some form of physical violence. A punch, a slap, throwing things - or her - against the wall.He would come into our room and emotionally manipulate us so that we would beg him to stay. Things would be ok for a while, then the cycle would start again. That cycle of abuse all suffers get caught up in.  I remember being 12 and it was the same old story. I said to him, "Go on, do it then, kill yourself, I don't care anymore." I'll never forget that moment in my life, where I then became the punching bag. I was 16 when I hid my brother and sister in my wardrobe, calling the police through muffled tones. I thought for sure he would kill her. The police arrived 3 hours later, I'm thankful they act a lot quicker today. When I was 18, my parents had a massive fight, I got in between them and my dad was so furious. I remember running down the drive way to get away from him. He was quicker than me and hit me so hard on the back of the head I blacked out. He then dragged me back inside for disobeying him. Suffice to say, I moved out the following week. I was 17 when I first started dating my husband. I remember vividly after dating for a couple of months, he punched me in the arm for something I said to him. I thought to myself, "You are never to be with someone who hurts you like your dad did to your mother." Except my subconscious had gotten so used to this kind of treatment that I let it continue. The brainwashing, the "I'm sorry, I'll do better," sucked me in time and time again. He was always SO emotional, I never knew which person I would get. But when he was nice, I loved him, so it blinded me from his toxic bahaviour. While we argued a lot, the physical violence happened maybe twice a year. How sad that I can justify that! We got married at 20, baby at 24, and at 27 when he threatened me with a machete, strangled me so that I nearly died and punched me so hard I bruised all over my backside, I knew that I couldn't do it anymore.I reported him to the police, they discribed the event as one of the worst they've seen and he was arrested. I got an AVO, which is nice in theory but does little when they are allowed off on bail by a magistrate and his charges were not addressed in a timely manner. My biggest issue - and what I want to petition today - is that I have to wait 12 months before I can divorce the man who abused me. 12 months of his manipulation and control. That is not fair. That is exactly why women/men go back to their partners because they get brainwashed time and time again. I'm asking for a no waiting period. I want to be divorced from my abusive husband now, so he no longer has any control over me. How can we make a stand when everything is in their favour?

Fair compensation for all, no matter when accident occurred.

I was working with Jerry the night of the accident. He was removing loose rock from the rail so a train could go through the tunnel. He was bent over when the rock struck him, he was trying to do his job and has since endured a nightmare. All injuries should be treated equally.

    Bring back Jeremy Kyle.

Jeremy Kyle should be put back on, the man's girlfriend in statement to the press said that the show tried with after care to help this poor guest but to no avail. The Jeremy Kyle show and ITV should not be held accountable for anyones mental wellbeing after they have been offered some of the best help out there... Jeremy Kyle has kept me motivated for nearly 15 years to be a better person and to fight for the truth and I am sure I am not the only one... keep Jeremy Kyle on TV.

Cancel school for USD232 on Tuesday due to the sudden tragedy that occurred in our city.

Recently the Kansas City Chiefs suffered a lethal blow to the heart after the New England Cheatriots defeated them in the AFC Championship game. The student body of USD 232 at its current state is mentally unstable and not ready for the daunting task that the school day will have to offer. If you care about the students, you will recognize this great tragedy and give time off for mourning. Thanks in advance, and keep your heads up Chiefs fans; you’re not alone. We’re all in this together.

Stop cocaine use in greyhound racing

Did you know that racing dogs test positive for serious drugs, including cocaine? On June 29, 2017, ABC First Coast News revealed that there were 18 cocaine positives at Florida’s Orange Park dog track in the first four months of 2017. Stories from the Associated Press/New York Times, the Washington Post, ABC World News Tonight, Great Britain’s Daily Mail, Canada’s CBC and other outlets across the world soon followed. The Animal Rescue Site and the Humane Society of the United States also blogged about it. Now, new reporting shows that the kennel worker involved, Charles F. McClellan has a long history of humane offenses and drug violations. In 2013, he failed to report the death of a racing greyhound as required by statute. In 2012, when one of his dogs tested positive for oxymorphone, his license was revoked and he was assessed a fine of $5,000. But later, when he claimed the drugging was “inadvertent,” the state reinstated his license and reduced the fine to $1,000! In the latest case, a dog named Flicka was found with cocaine in her system on six different occasions! Ten of the twelve dogs involved are owned by Julia Ward, the current President of industry front group the National Greyhound Association. And more, the kennel where the dogs tested positive is owned by NGA board member Steve Sarras, a politically connected recipient of greyhound subsidies in West Virginia. Kennel worker Charles F. McClellan has had his license suspended but neither he, nor Ward or Sarras have been criminally charged. Unfortunately, this is only the latest case of greyhounds suffering abuse in an apparent race fixing scheme. In January, cocaine was found in five greyhounds within two weeks at Derby Lane, another Florida dog track. The man responsible, championship “dogman” Malcolm McCallister, lost his racing license. He didn’t even pay a fine and no criminal charges were ever brought. Back in 2004, our investigations revealed that greyhounds test positive all over the country. 119 dogs were drugged in the Sunshine State alone that year. If you are as disgusted as I am with this callous and greedy industry, please take the time now to sign our petition to Governor Rick Scott. Urge him to bring Ward, Sarras, McClellan and McCallister to justice!

Louisiana Attorney General and US DOJ: Investigate brutal anti-gay assault on Andrew Sawyer at Shaw Group

While working at the Shaw Group in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, I was sexually assaulted by four male co-workers who perceived that I was gay. But the District Attorney's office has refused to take the case. I believe this is because they don’t take male-on-male sexual assault seriously. Now, I’m calling for a state and federal investigation to hold my abusers accountable and prevent this from happening to anyone else. The abuse started almost immediately at Shaw Group. They started bullying me by calling me names like “Skittles” and “sweet cheeks” and poured water down my pants. But things escalated to physical abuse on multiple occasions. At one point, they tied me up with electrical tape and another time they sodomized me with a ballpoint pen. Working at Shaw was a great opportunity for me. I’m an orphan and I work hard to provide a better life for me and my younger brothers. I don’t have many options for work, so I put up with the abuse from my co-workers. I never thought getting this job that I would have to endure this. When I finally had enough of the abuse, I went to the police. The four men were charged, but the District Attorney refused to take the case because I was unable to appear before a Grand Jury in August. I was only given two days notice before the hearing and my request for a delay so I could speak with a rape therapist before having to speak publicly about what happened to me was denied. I’m calling on my Attorney General in Louisiana, Buddy Caldwell, and Thomas E. Perez, Assistant Attorney General for DOJ Civil Rights Division, to investigate the case. I know they’ll find the truth. Talking about what happened to me isn’t easy. But I know that somewhere, someone else is going through the same thing.

Petition to State of Nebraska Board of Pardons

#SendEarnestHome: Tell the Nebraska Board of Pardons to bring an innocent Black man home.

In 2000, a jury found Earnest Jackson guilty of the first-degree murder of Larry Perry. Jackson was 17 years old at the time of the crime and the court sentenced him to life imprisonment for the murder conviction. Jackson’s conviction rested on the testimony of a sole eyewitness. Although Jackson had an alibi, that he was at his aunt’s house the night in question, Elexsis Fulton testified that Jackson was at the scene and participated in the murder of Perry. The identifying facts were slim: a man who was “dark-skinned with braided hair” and a blue “FUBU” brand shirt.” Fulton also testified that Jackson had pulled out a gun and struck the victim in the head three times with it. This was a blatant inconsistency with the autopsy report of Perry. When Dr. Jerry Jones, the medical examiner, performed the autopsy, he reported that while Perry died from multiple gunshots, there were no abrasions on the victim’s head or scalp that were consistent with being struck in the head three times with a gun. Despite the inconsistencies in Fulton’s testimony, Jackson was convicted by a mostly white jury with a sole Black juror. Conversely, Jackson was acquitted of a deadly weapons charge. Co-defendants Cooperrider and Chillous were tried in separate, subsequent trials. With his trial occurring after Earnest’s, Cooperrider admitted to the murder of Perry and was acquitted on self-defense grounds. Cooperrider testified that he was present at the scene, that he fired his handgun several times in self-defense, and that neither Jackson nor Chillous were at the scene. He maintained this testimony both at his own trial, and Chillous’s trial - when Chillous was also acquitted. For Jackson, it was too late. Jackson would have been acquitted had he went to trial after Cooperrider's trial, just as Chillous had been acquitted. However, Jackson remained convicted and incarcerated even after Cooperrider confessed. Subsequent appeals that were denied, Jackson was still convicted for a crime that he did not commit. Under a new SCOTUS decision, Miller v. Alabama, Jackson required resentencing because the SCOTUS decision barred life terms for minors convicted of homicide. In a devastating blow, Jackson was resentenced to 60-80 years. During the course of resentencing, the judge commented that it wasn't his job to act at the pardons board and assess the facts of Earnest’s conviction. However - not all District Court judges took this approach in this wave of resentencing proceedings in Nebraska at the time. In 2017, Earnest exhausted his last appeal due to a narrow reading of how Cooperrider’s testimony and confession does not qualify as “new evidence” to grant Jackson a new trial. Now, it is in the hands of the Nebraska Board of Pardons to commute Jackson’s sentence at his next review hearing in April 2021. Join us in asking the Board of Pardons to #SendEarnestHome to his family.  _________________________________________________________________ Earnest & I have been married for almost 4 years. Earnest is 39 years old and he deserves to have a real-life with his wife & his family that has stood by his side during his incarceration. We ask that you support our efforts and get his case the publicity it needs to get him released sooner than 2029. Please share & sign this petition, be a voice for Earnest and our family lets get him the justice that he so rightfully deserves that the Nebraska Criminal Justice System failed to do for him and so many others. Thank you in advance for your support. Mrs. Earnest D. Jackson, (Tracy Jackson) & Family Please make donations here. Subscribe for updates on Earnest here.
