Approve Alternative Cancer Treatment for Canadians

People do not have to suffer through cancer treatment any longer and should have the choice to select which type of treatment they would like to undergo.  SEF Chemo, pronounced "Safe" Chemo, is a new form of Cancer Treatment developed by Dr. Ken Matsumura and his team of researchers at the Berkeley Institute in California. Dr. Matsumura is a physician and the inventor of the world's first artificial liver, artificial pancreas and wristwatch heart alarm.  Dr. Matsumura has reported approximately 90% response rate for the patients with stage 3 and early stage 4 cancers, and in the first small clinical trial of 6 patients, 4 achieved long-term complete remission of cancer.  Dr. Khan of Medicor Cancer Centre in Toronto has been administering this treatment for the last 4 years until the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario forced him to stop the treatment. His patients include those who come from all over the world as well as across Canada, including British Columbia, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, the U.S., England, Australia, Africa and Indonesia.  SEF Chemo - Side Effect Free Chemo - is protecting the patients bone marrow from being damaged by the chemo. If the bone marrow is protected, the white cells are not compromised which allows them to play a role in the killing of cancer cells. In other words, SEF Chemo is not "chemotherapy" but rather "chemo-immunotherapy." Unfortunately, most oncologists have never been exposed to anything like SEF Chemo, and therefore are not in any kind of position to judge it.  I, personally, have been undergoing this treatment with amazing results. I have triple negative breast cancer which is extremely rare, aggressive and does not respond well to treatment, which I was advised by an oncologist. While undergoing the SEF Chemo Treatment I have experienced minimal side effects. I did not lose my hair, I did not get mouth sores or experience even close to an eighth of the side effects I would have experienced on the chemo that was offered to me through the hospital in Toronto. At the hospital they told me that I would definitely lose my hair among an entire list of other atrocities and that I would be able to purchase a drug called neulasta that would help to boost my white blood cells, this drug is thousands of dollars for just one pill and OHIP does not cover the cost. How is it possible that so much money is being poured into finding new treatments and cures and that the hospitals continue to offer the same treatment that they have been offering since the 1950's? It is no wonder that most people die from the treatment and not from the cancer.  It was my decision to proceed with SEF Chemo (at my cost) as this made more sense to me. Why totally obliterate every cell in my body with regular chemo. It just didn't make sense. The only problem was that after just 2 treatments Dr. Khan was shut down from administering the chemo, so myself, along with those who could afford it, were forced to travel to California every 2 weeks for treatment which added exorbitantly to the cost of the treatment.  Those who could not afford to travel were left with little option. This is unacceptable. We are supposed to be living in a democracy, why are we not allowed to choose our treatment when faced with a life threatening disease?  We are calling on the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario to re-instate SEF Chemo to Dr. Khan of Medicor Cancer Centre in Toronto. Denying the sick and the vulnerable access to this promising new cancer treatment is not only morally wrong, it's shameful.  You can learn more about this treatment and Dr. Khan at www.medicorcancer.com

Alternative Sentencing for Disabled Rapper 'Keak da Sneak'

Keak da Sneak is a rapper that was shot 2 times in 2017. The second random shooting leaving him confined to a wheel chair with various health issues was sentenced by the Amador County Superior Court Judge to an 18 month prison sentence. The rapper isn't asking for leniency on his sentence, but simply how he serves that sentence. He is asking for home confinement/anklet monitor. The chances of him becoming a flight risk is far and few considering he cannot walk. Prison is not the right place for this man. Prison is dangerous & dirty! He cannot defend himself and has already been the victim of 2 shootings. He also receives crutial medical care 3x a week by nurses who visit his home as well as his wife whom is his full time care giver.

A Theme Park is not an alternative to Natural Forest

WHY DO WE WANT A NATURAL FOREST INSTEAD OF THEME PARK ? We, the nature lovers in general and residents of Dwarka in particular, under the banner of Bharat Vandana Van Bachao Abhiyan would like to draw your kind attention to the following few lines We are given to understand that DDA has awarded a project to NBCC to develop a Theme park ignoring our decade long demand to keep the forest area as it is. Since 2014, when our request was first placed to DDA the imperatives for developing a city forest here have increased much more. The fact that Dwarka itself has at times recorded the highest AQI in Delhi has come as further alarming development in last two years. Dwarka not only takes the burden of exhaust fumes from a thousand air flights daily from IGI airport but is also on a transient route to road traffic flow between West, North Delhi and Gurugram. The condition of neighboring colonies like Palam, Uttam Nagar , Janakpuri is no better.  When at a time, natural forests are depleting in size all over India, a forest which is providing natural resources like water and air and houses innumerable micro-organisms is so essential for sustaining local biodiversity. A 15 feet deep water body amidst this jungle has highest water recharge capacity. Given the above, downgrading the city forest to an urban/theme park is not a feasible option.  Last, but not the least, this pristine natural area houses abundant biodiversity/wildlife like Nilgai, hare, tortoise, monitor lizard, peacocks besides innumerable smaller reptiles, amphibians and avian population which can survive only if the protected city forest is allowed to continue in as is where is condition here. Further it would be a great opportunity for students/ researchers to get nature education too. We request you  to stop the proposal to convert the Bharat Vandana  forest area into  theme park

    Alternative Grading Option

The pass/fail option should be available for the 2020 Fall semester.    Last semester, Spring 2020, when the COVID-19 crisis began, UB allowed the option to either keep a letter grade, or make the class pass/fail. This greatly helped students whose education was harmed by the online format and difficulties caused by this crisis.    Simply put, it is impossible to properly learn online. There's hundreds of little reasons why online learning is awful, but the main three pertain to impersonal relationships, technical difficulties, and susceptibility to distraction.    One of the best aspects of in person education is getting to know professors and fellow students. When you have a good relationship with those people, it makes learning much more enjoyable and personal. These relationships are extremely difficult to form in an online format. Communicating through email or through Zoom does not allow for bonds to form. There's a large difference between speaking to someone face to face, versus hearing their voice over Zoom. Without personal relationships, classes simply just feed students information without context and enjoyment.    Classes online are also subject to technical difficulties. Some professors are inexperienced with computers and technology, which dampens students' education. Additionally, Zoom lectures are notoriously unreliable. Many times, Zoom will be having technical issues, and will stop working for several minutes or hours at a time. This can significantly take away from our time learning. On top of large issues such as Zoom going down, oftentimes videos freeze and voices cut out, making it difficult to understand what is going on.    The last major topic to note regarding the difficulties of online learning is the larger risk of distraction. Many students have voiced their concerns about not being able to pay attention to a screen. It's difficult to stare at the same spot for long periods of time, and the temptation to multitask is strong. It is so easy to get distracted when you have to focus for so long on a screen.   Aside from online learning, students are still struggling immensely this semester. Anxiety and depression rates are at an extreme high due to issues caused by the COVID-19 crisis. Additionally, students are being forced to do things entirely on their own. Due to social distancing guidelines, students aren't getting the social support they need. Students' mental health is at an extreme risk right now.    One might argue that because classes were online last semester, students should be used to that format. However, it's impossible to adjust to an online learning environment; it's impossible to adjust to being alone and isolated.   Not only will giving the option for pass/fail it ease the stress of online courses, but it will also allow students more time to focus on their mental health. It is imperative that students are given the pass/fail option this semester.

COSTCO: find an alternative to Palm Oil, Orangutans survival depend on it

Palm Oil is a cheap additive in many products we consume/use each day. These include but are not limited to; food, beauty products and biofuel.  COSTCO currently uses Palm Oil in some of their own Kirkland brand products. Because Costco has such a global market of consumers, people have the right to know the negative impact and devastation, the consumption of Palm Oil is causing. In Borneo there are rainforests that are being burned every second, so row upon row of palm plants can take their place. Animals such as Orangutans have to evacuate quickly to save their lives. This devastation leaves dead or injured, crying and orphaned baby Orangutans among other animals. In Borneo and Sumatra this biodiverse forest is the last place on earth where Tiger, Orangutan and Elephant still co exsist. From 1999-2015 100,000 Orangutans in Borneo alone have died from habitat loss and hunting.  Costco is a member of the "Roundtable on sustainable palm oil” Although they can say they belong to this group they have not taken credible steps to do so. There are many questions surrounding the truth behind “sustainable palm oil.” Research shows harvesting for Palm oil is leaving forests in devastation, wreaking havoc on the environment, and violently ends the lives of many forest inhabitants, including the Orangutans.  We ask that Costco start the movement to totally end Palm Oil use. Palm Oil is often disguised with various names in products (please research these) and email manufacturers to stop using Palm Oil. Join me in asking Costco to make the right move for the planet, by totally eliminating Palm Oil from their brand, and to use their buying power to inspire other manufacturers to do the same.  #getitoutcostco  Call the Costco help line to inquire about this yourself, and or demand for the change outlined in this petition.  1 800 463 3783

Petition to Disneyland , Disneyland Park, Disneyland Annual Pass, The Walt Disney Company

    Disneyland Annual Pass Extension Alternative

Disneyland should not count the extension for Annual Passes the first day the park re-opens. We propose that Disneyland should start the extension on the first day that a passholder enters the park, once it reopens, rather than beginning the extension on the same day for everyone.  We would continue to pay for our passes (those of us who make monthly payments) once the park opens, however, the idea is that the extension would begin once someone enters the park for the first time once it reopens. This way, if there is limited capacity, those who have paid in full or even have top tier passes do not miss out on what they paid for (ex: no blockout dates, no reservations, full access for the entirety of the 12-month pass period, etc.)  This is considering that the parks may open too soon for comfort for some of us, amidst this global pandemic. Therefore, we as consumers are not spending money on a pass when we may not feel comfortable returning to Disneyland parks yet. Or, those who do wish to visit the park once it re-opens won’t have the reservation-period counted against them on their pass if they are unable to make one due to limited capacity and the new reservation-based system. This will also avoid many of us losing the down payment that we’ve already made for the passes we currently hold, rather than cancelling now and renewing again at a later time.

Petition to Government of Manitoba, Manitoba Education Minister Kelvin Goertzen, Minister of Health Cameron Friesen, Chief Provincial Public Health Officer Dr. Brent Roussin

Offer Manitoba Schools an Online Learning Alternative

Manitoba schools are facing an unprecedented challenge this fall. A global pandemic shut down the school system in March, and Manitoba’s proposed reopening plan for September is severely lacking. Students in K-8 are required to be back at school full time, 5 days a week. The province vaguely indicates distancing measures will be in place with no plan as to how that will happen in a school system that is overcrowded and underfunded to begin with.  Schools don’t have extra classrooms to spread out in, our teachers are spread thin and schools are busting at the seams as it is.  While it is true that we must learn to live with the virus for a long time yet, our children can’t be guinea pigs for an all or nothing approach. There needs to be an in between option. A hybrid of part time in school learning mixed with online, or the option to do full time online would be a great step. Giving parents options helps everyone in the long run, reducing class sizes and those who choose to distance learn can, making things safer for parents who can’t offer that choice.  Please Mr. Goertzen, Manitoba children and parents deserve to choose how to best keep their families safe right now.  You can view the full provincial plan here: https://www.gov.mb.ca/asset_library/en/covid/k-12-reopeningplan-stage-2.pdf
