We Must Forge a "Grand Compromise"

We Must Forge a "Grand Compromise"
The Issue
This non-partisan petition presents a demand from the American people to our elected representatives to stop “kicking the can down the road” and to do what is necessary NOW to forge a “Grand Compromise” that is necessary to address our nation’s economic crisis by tackling our deficit and reforming our tax code.
Congress’ Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction—the so-called “Super Committee”—has the rare opportunity, with its unique “fast track” authority, to forge a “Grand Compromise” that is necessary to address our nation’s economic crisis. We must not allow partisans, ideologues and opportunists to squander this opportunity by standing in the way of compromise.
The Super Committee must reach compromise now, but, at a minimum, must reach a bipartisan agreement to extend its unique “fast track” authority, which is absolutely necessary to achieve a “Grand Compromise" before the end of 2013.
