Because for alot of user rapid rise is the correct way for the shifters to operate, and its impossible to use both at the same time. Now all my bikes are on rapid rise I cant just put one back to low-normal or I'll get confused. Shimano need to release some rapid rise mechs at approximately XT/XTR level even if its just a limited run.
