I think we need a new Mario sub-series added to Nintendo franchise just like they added Donkey Kong series during the debut from the NES era. There is Yoshi series from the debut from Super NES era and a Wario series debut from the Game Boy era. Those characters have been there for years. I suggest adding that character for the next Super Smash Bros. game sometime after the fourth entry (Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U) similar to Diddy Kong joining for the Donkey Kong series from Brawl and then Rosalina joining as a Newcomer in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U as a Mario series character. This makes me think that we should see a new Fourth sub-series added to the Mario franchise.
