The Issue

#SAVEISAIAH

Isaiah has been held unjustly by the state of Illinois seven months now, because I requested my son be transferred to another hospital for another medical opinion.  His home is in Kansas City, Missouri. Please read his story, sign and share. Our next court date is Friday 9/19/2014 and start of trial. Please let Isaiah go home! He is being held against his will! Isaiah is protected by the federal law ICWA. All of this that has occured has been done illegally with no regards to a federal law in place to protect Isaiah.

Isaiah is an almost 17-year-old young man. We came to Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital in Chicago, Illinois in March 2014 seeking specialized medical care.  Isaiah has neurofibromatosis, a genetic disorder causing tumors on the nerves. Isaiah also has other medical conditions, including a partial amputation of one of his legs and a long history of medical care following a fracture he had at age 6. Isaiah had to endure many surgeries to his leg for 10 years, which resulted in an amputation. The amputation was followed with severe complications and pain that doctors cannot determine the source.

Isaiah had a surgery at Lurie Children's Hospital on March 31st. He developed complications again in surgery including severe pain and leg convulsions on the leg he had the operation on. The surgery was to remove painful tumors from his leg and spine causing him pain. The pain and leg convulsions started while under anesthesia and continued after recovery.  They became progressively worse despite measures being taken by the hospital to control his pain.  Six days later Isaiah was admitted to the ICU for pain management. He was having to be sedated for his pain. By this time I as his mother and caregiver of over 16 years and also a nurse started requesting a transfer to another hospital in hopes that someone would be able to relieve my sons pain and also properly diagnose his leg convulsions. I wanted help for my son. Lurie Children's Hospital was poorly managing Isaiah's pain and he was suffering.

The hospital agreed to help transfer Isaiah to get help and went along with it, so it seemed. However, two weeks had gone by and Isaiah was still in Luries ICU and his pain convulsions were now lasting two hours or more. I started reaching out to others to help her son, including contacting other physicians who had treated him, requesting ethics committee meetings and meeting with physicians regarding his care. I went through the proper channels to seek help for my son Isaiah who clearly needed help; help that Luries was not able to provide. They bullied me, never gave many any idea or even hint and stripped me of my parental rights because I wanted another opinion. I wanted help for MY child, because she I not want to watch Isaiah suffer in pain. I am not being charged with any wrong doing. I am having to fight a system to explain why I wanted help for MY son, a child with undisputed medical issues and who clearly was in pain. He was in the ICU for 30 days.

Luries Children's Hospital then took extreme measure to gain control of a situation and they had no rights or authority to do so. They made false claims in order to do so claiming medical abuse, in order to gain control. They made Isaiah suffer and made family believe they were going to get help for him. Instead, they denied Isaiah that right, kept him heavily medicated, removed his mother and family for what they said was 48 hours for what they now claimed medical abuse- interfering with their treatment which clearly was not working. 48 hours turned into 24 days that Isaiah was held in ICU and they did not allow me to see him despite an order from the judge and many attempts including bringing law enforcement to try to see him.

Luries did not care. Isaiah was now a prisoner in their hospital. They kept him drugged on 15 medications and have taken away his freedom. They have transferred him around to multiple places and he is now in a stranger's home 9 hours away from his home and in a state we do not reside in foster care.  Isaiah has spoken out to his appointed guardian, the judge, and to many others his wishes to come home to Kansas City, Missouri. He has made a video for the public to see, Isaiah is being held hostage.

Please sign this petition and help let him go! This is too much on this child and family. They have been dealing with his health since age six. Isaiah was medically abducted by Luries Children's Hospital and now being held captive in the state of Illinois- Isaiah's home is in Kansas City.
