The Issue

Thousands of Gmail users across the globe love Gmail for its sneak-peek feature and use it on a daily basis. Unfortunately, Google discontinued this feature without warning on May 30, 2013.

Below is a quote from "jellyneck" explaining the importance of this feature.
"Please bring it back. There is simply no other way to quickly scan an email without opening it. Using the preview pane marks it as read which means I have to take additional steps to mark it as unread again so I can revisit it later when I have time.
For me, unread emails signify something to be addressed when I have more time. And read emails mean that I am addressing it in some fashion. By previewing emails, it allows me to decide if it's something that can be addressed very quickly or if I will leave it for later (ie leave it unread).

If the preview pane is the only way now to preview an email, it's likely going to lead to missed emails because I have to manually mark it as unread (ie to be addressed later when I have more time). I'm sure I'm going to forget to mark some as unread because of the added step.

Perhaps a win-win would be to add "quick preview" to the new rt-click menu (in addition to archive/delete/read/unread). What do you say? Please? Pretty please???"
