Save the Historic Wilson School

    1. Petition by

      Preservation Arlington

The historic Wilson School is under threat of redevelopment. Built in 1910, it is one of the oldest existing public schools in Arlington. Help us save the Wilson School from being turned into another high rise. Lets take back our neighborhood.

We believe the Wilson School:
1. Retains an important part of the character and urban fabric of Arlington.
2. Provides sense of place to the community.
3. Break from high density.
4. Provides much needed recreational green space.

Tell Arlington County to support thoughtful redevelopment of the Wilson School...not just another high rise.

This is a great building, that could be used for a shelter or a place for people to go if there is a natural diaster like a hurricane or earthquake. Or it could be just a Historical site or a makeshift hospital. I'm SICK! AND TIRED! OF buildings being knocked down just for a high-rise or a mansion to be put in, in it's place. I think we should be thinking about are this building could be used for good and helping others than about how much MONEY!! can be made by knocking it down!!!!

Saving the Wilson School is important to all of Arlington County as an

historic structure which can be once again be used as a community educational center, as well as a Mongolian "Home Away from Home"! In Arlington, we encourage diversity and

      the treasuring of our rich

historical past ... rather than the worship of steel

      and glass high-rises.

The Wilson School is an important part of Arlington's 20th century history and is visually a welcome break from the number of high-rise buildings in and near Rosslyn. Arlington should support its past history and find a valuable use for the school. The school system is full of creative minds; I suggest the School Board encourage Arlington's students, teachers & parents to find a solution for Wilson.
