Subject: A Humble appeal by Over 1 Lakh citizens:  Establish an Oxygen Park in Punawale's 57-acre forest area.

Respected Chief Minister Sir and all CCs members(Sir/Madam),

Punawale, a rapidly growing suburb in PCMC, is home to over 1 lakh residents and a beautiful forest area this vital green space, we चिंचवड विधानसभेचे आमदार मा.श्री.शंकरभाऊ जगताप, मी चेतन भुजबळ आणि 1 लाखांहून अधिक पुनावळेकर urge PCMC to transform it into an Oxygen Park.

A sanctuary for clean air, biodiversity, and community well-being. This initiative will promote environmental sustainability, improve public health, and provide a much-needed recreational space for residents.  Lets protect our forest and turn it into a green legacy for future generations.

The Punawale Forest Area in PCMC spans approximately 57 acres. This land has been the focus of community efforts to prevent commercial development and instead promote the creation of an Oxygen Park to preserve green space and improve public health.

🌳 Green Potential of Punawale Forest

• Punawale Forest is the largest among the three, with 57 acres ≈ 230,671 sq. meters
• It can support up to 57,000 trees, making it a powerful green lung for the PCMC region. (based on 1,000 trees per acre in dense urban forests)
• Punawale Forest is significantly larger than both Empress Garden (39 acres) and Peshwe Park(7acres), making it an ideal candidate for a large-scale Oxygen Park that could serve thousands of residents.

Our community has witnessed unprecedented urbanization, which has led to

• Rapid loss of green cover
• Increased air pollution
• Lack of safe and healthy recreational spaces for children, senior citizens, and families

An Oxygen Park is no longer a luxury — it is a NECESSITY.

Why Punawale Needs an Oxygen Park?

🌱 The recent rise in temperatures and intense summer heatwaves in Pune are alarming signs of the impact of deforestation. These changes are not just environmental—they affect each one of us, especially those living in and around these neighborhoods.

🌱 Restoration and protection of Punawale’s precious forest ecosystem

Our Demand

We चिंचवड विधानसभेचे आमदार मा.श्री.शंकरभाऊ जगताप, मी चेतन भुजबळ आणि 1 लाखांहून अधिक पुनावळेकर , the undersigned, urge PCMC and the Government of Maharashtra to:

✅ Reserve and protect the identified forest land in Punawale for public green use
✅ Develop a well-planned, accessible, and sustainable Oxygen Park
✅ Involve citizens and local communities in design and implementation
✅ Commit funding and resources to make this happen in the next fiscal year
