The Issue

The global population is aging, leading to the "Silver Tsunami" demographic collapse. The root cause is aging itself, and scientists globally have slowed or reversed aging in lab animals by >30%.

The priority of governments and industry should be the greatest threat facing humanity -- not wars, authoritarianism, or climate change -- but the current 100% certainty that we will all age and die.

We need multiple Manhattan Project-scale efforts to ameliorate the damage that causes aging and therefore bring about a biomedical revolution.

We are scientists, entrepreneurs, technologists, healthcare workers, policymakers, and concerned citizens putting forward the following proposal:

1. Healthy lifespan extension has been consistently demonstrated in labs globally. It is possible to extend healthy lifespan of lab mice by >30% via several dozen pharmacological and environmental interventions. (E.g., National Institutes on Aging, Interventions Testing Program, Richard Miller et al). Apollo Health Ventures summary

2. The reason these interventions have become possible is due to progress biomedical science defining the molecular mechanisms of aging (E.g., 7 Deadly SENS and Hallmarks of Aging).

3. The most efficient method for addressing the global demographic aging crisis (Silver Tsunami) is to slow and reverse the damage of aging, allowing longer, healthier, and more productive lives. Pension and healthcare costs are unsustainable without therapies that dramatically extend healthspan

4. The LongBio industry will be an economic boom for whichever countries and cities embrace the sector, bringing capital and talent as well as early access to the highest quality longevity medicine.

5. Medical authorities must support longevity therapeutics as soon as possible. Surrogate biomarkers of aging and the 'right to try,' no longer prohibiting the practice of medicine when mutually agreed between doctor and patient (e.g., stem cell therapy doctors which have been forced to go abroad). See: The Network State by Balaji Srinivasan.

6. Government agencies such as the NIH and global counterparts must allocate budgets toward basic and translational 'geroscience' rather than  palliating individual aging-related diseases -- ignoring the root cause which is aging itself.
