Request to Zomato to Reduce High Commission Charges and Stop Unreasonable Penalties

The Issue

To Zomato,

We, the undersigned, urge you to reduce the high commission charges for food delivery from our restaurants. The current commission rates of 24-30% are too high, especially for businesses operating in tier 3 cities like ours. It is becoming increasingly difficult for us to maintain profitability while also providing affordable and quality food to our customers.

We also urge you to stop charging restaurant owners if they cannot fulfil orders due to reasons beyond their control, such as unavailability of ingredients, staff shortage, or delivery issues. This penalty charge is unreasonable and can cause further financial strain on small and medium-sized restaurants.

We request Zomato to consider the following measures to support small and medium-sized restaurants:

Reduce the commission charges to 16-18% to allow for better profit margins and affordability for customers.
Introduce flexible commission models that align with restaurant profitability and footfall.
Provide transparent and timely payments to ensure cash flow and financial stability for restaurants.
Increase marketing and promotion efforts for small and medium-sized restaurants to help drive more business to them.

We believe that such a move will not only benefit the restaurant industry but also help the food delivery market grow sustainably.

We urge Zomato to take immediate action to reduce commission charges and stop unreasonable penalties. We believe that this will create a win-win situation for both Zomato and the restaurant industry, leading to better services and increased customer satisfaction.

Sincerely,
