This petition is addressed to food delivery services in India, requesting them to eliminate plastic waste from their services.

India generates approximately 26000 tons of plastic waste daily, out of which 40% remains uncollected. This uncollected waste ends up in your soil, rivers, and oceans, causing great damage to terrestrial and marine ecosystems. This waste ends up taking a huge toll on the animal species living on land and water. This waste also ends up in our food chain in the form of microplastics threatening our health and well-being. Some examples include:

Much of the growth in plastic production is driven by single-use or disposable applications. Nearly 50 % of plastics used are single-use products such as bottles, plastic bags, packaging, straws, stirrers, spoons, and fork.

We demand food delivery platforms take responsibility for this packaging waste and find efficient solutions for the same. But this would not be possible without the support and agreement of consumers. We need a global mind shift from the throwaway culture and adoption of reduce, reuse and recycle. The production of a significant amount of waste can be avoided by solving the food packaging waste problem.

Please take the short amount of time to sign this petition to reduce our food packaging waste and to ultimately save the planet. Without change, there will be nothing left to conserve, protect and admire. Let’s create noise and let the people who have the ability to make change know how the world is feeling.
