Save Catherine's Life by Getting the Zambian Ministry of Health to Act Quickly
Catherine Mzyece is a 20 year old UNZA student who has been in the hospital for a little over two months now and was recently diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML) a type of cancer that affects the bone marrow, blood cells and platelets.
After a thorough assessment by the medical team, an ADHOC Committee at the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) has referred Catherine to India for further treatment and management. Catherine's father is a primary school teacher in Chipata and her family cannot afford to pay for her treatment abroad.Fortunately for us, a recommendation has been made from UTH prompting the Government through the Ministry of Health to support the evacuation and treatment process. All necessary documents have been made available by UTH to the Ministry of Health but the Ministry of Health is giving us the run around for signatures and asking is to wait a month for a process they can complete within hours neglecting that a life is at stake.
We seek your assistance in making Catherine's voice head by signing this petition to get the Zambian Ministry of Health to accelerate the process of Catherine's evacuation to India. Let's do it not just for Catherine, but let's demand the value for life and the Ministry responding quickly be a standard of practice for every citizen not just a select few.
Thank you in advance for your assistance!
