On March 2nd, at around 5:30 pm, a regular day took a terrifying turn for my family and I. We were at home going through our regular routine when a loud crash occurred. A burning RV had lost control and hurtled into our backyard, crashing into a tree and igniting it into flames. The proximity to our house was horrifying, the items we had outside our home melted, the corner of our roof caught fire, and glass from our window shattered under the intense heat. We were all engulfed in fear, worried that the fire would make its way through our entire home. 

Thankfully, our local Fire Department arrived swiftly, Preventing a devastating incident that could have easily turned into a tragedy for our family. For which we are immensely grateful. However, this incident has left us shaken and concerned about the ongoing safety of our neighborhood.

Many years ago a petition was made that could have prevented this exact scenario from happening. But never came into effect. This close call is the wake up call our county needs. We need a safety barrier put in place for these county homes that run along Pacific Avenue. Our subdivision is classified as county but the road above is highly trafficked, being the route of choice to get to and from the airport, mall, grocery stores and DMV etc.

It is imperative that this issue be addressed by constructing a better safety barrier along the County Line Road, where the heightened road overlooks our homes. A barrier would help prevent vehicles from rolling down the hill and potentially causing catastrophic damage or injury.
