Banning Eating Alive Animals

The Issue

Recently on YouTube, people have been eating ALIVE animals such as octopus and squid for subscribers and views. They are grilled alive and chopped and even chewed so that they are tortured before they are eaten.

Some even pour soy sauce on squids in order to make them "dance," which just painfully absorbs the water out of them and makes their muscles move. It is inhumane and disgusting.

Many report these kinds of videos, but YouTube refuses to acknowledge them. Their best efforts up until now is to ban those kinds of videos for people under 18.

This is ANIMAL CRUELTY. This is refusing to acknowledge that animals are alive beings that deserves as little pain as possible, if at all. They don't deserve to be eaten alive and tortured.

It is one thing to eat for survival, for ending animals' lives as quick as possible and another to torture them, chop them, and grill them alive for our entertainment and pleasure.

Many countries such as China, US, South Korea, and Japan supports this, for the reason that the meat is more fresh (however, not all do). But can't we sacrifice a little pleasure so that animals can suffer less?

It can be argued that it is a part of some people's culture; as an Asian, however, I see it as something that inflicts unnecessary pain on animals and something that needs to be fixed. The fact that many people support it, or the fact that it is a part of a culture, does not make it right.

Please sign this petition to help. We need to ban this unnecessary animal cruelty. People should only kill when they have to— not by choice or entertainment, but for survival. If we must kill, we should have mercy to do it swiftly and quickly. Animals aren't something that deserve to be in pain just for a few minutes of entertainment— they are alive beings that should be rightfully viewed as such. The fact that some people support this goes against the fact that this is animal cruelty and that it is wrong.
