Dear Holy Father and Synod Fathers,
In anticipation of 'Synod 2018 Youth, faith and vocational discernment' we raise our voices to speak with the Holy Father, Pope Francis in filial charity and consonant with the rights of the Christian Faithful enshrined in canon law (cf. 212 §3, 215).
As young people we welcome this year which is dedicated to us and take it as an invitation to express our aspirations and hopes for the Church and our role within it. As youth who possess a particular love for, and have our spiritual lives sustained by, ‘tradition’ and its liturgical expressions we desire to be heard by Our Holy Father, Pope Francis and all the Synod Fathers. We consider it necessary that the hierarchy be attentive to our contribution lest the outcome of the Synod not fully reflect the dynamic and fruitful contribution of the ever-growing contingent of young people attached to traditional expressions of our Catholic faith.
We hope that there will be a revivification of authenticity, truth, beauty, reverence, holiness and prayerfulness in all liturgies.
We hope that the Church can once again embrace the beautiful depth of Her tradition, expressed most profoundly in the Traditional Mass – a Rite we consider to be the ‘most beautiful thing this side of heaven’.
We hope that the sacred and Christocentric nature of the Church's Sacraments, liturgy, rituals, music and discipline can be the central and animating spirit of the Church’s pastors in offering our public prayers.
We hope that the primacy of God, and all His commandments, will be acknowledged and that the service of mankind will be seen as something which flows from the right understanding of Christ’s Church – namely as the possessor of the fullness of truth.
We pray for the intentions of our Holy Father, Pope Francis and all the Bishops of the world as regards to the younger generations - may our voices be heard by them.
“What earlier generations held as sacred, remains sacred and great for us too, and it cannot be all of a sudden entirely forbidden or even considered harmful. It behooves all of us to preserve the riches which have developed in the Church’s faith and prayer, and to give them their proper place.” Letter of HH Pope Benedict XVI accompanying the Motu Proprio Summorum Pontificum.
In loving reverence for that which earlier generations held as sacred we Youth for Tradition humbly carry a torch forward so as to illuminate the riches which have developed in the Church’s faith and prayer, and which we have received also, to pass on for the generations to come.
“Now I make known unto you, brethren, the Gospel which I preached to you, which also you have received ... For I delivered unto you first of all, which I also received…” (St Paul, I Cor. xv, 1, 3-5)
In Christ and His Blessed Mother,
Youth for Tradition - the undersigned.
