Minnesota Higher Education is a top priority for this legislative session. We are facing proposed budget cuts that will directly impact our way our faculty and staff but also us the students of Fond du Lac tribal and community college. The House higher education committee member's discussions have included:

A possible 16% or more in cuts in state assistance for higher education, and putting in a rule that a community college would only be able to increase tuition with a 2% cap, and a four-year university would only be able to increase tuition with a 4% cap would be implemented.

If that 16% were to happen at our school only be allowed to raise tuition by 2% that would mean 4-5 staff positions could be cut leaving our little community in a greater shortfall of supportive staff to help us as students succeed.
