I've often thought about addressing this issue over the years, and I'm shocked that no one has questioned why the CRA doesn’t pay us interest. After all, no taxes are technically owed until April of the following year. This is why businesses aren’t required to prepay taxes upfront—yet employees (essentially treated like modern-day slaves in this context) are forced to comply.

Interestingly, there’s nothing in the Income Tax Act that explicitly allows the government to take payroll deductions. These deductions are governed solely by CRA regulations, which are just that—regulations—not actual laws. Every corporation has its own set of regulations, but these typically fall under the authority of the Act or law. It raises serious questions about fairness and accountability.
