YouNow has grown over the last four years to become a prominent ground for young communicators, content producers, talents, and more. However, independent of their community's continued growth, they have left devoid the growth of their actual content delivery infrastructure.

Since the platform was introduced in 2011, YouNow's streaming infrastructure has been powered by Adobe Flash Player. Flash Player as a software has always been outrageously exploitable and lacks fundamental security. In the modern era of the internet, security is an essential thing for all organizations, minor or major, to take into account when developing their products. This especially applies to social networks, especially when specific members of those networks could be put at a higher vulnerability than those of other such networks.

Now, as Flash is entering it's final throe, it is essential that YouNow keep up with where the tech is moving. These changes are needed to keep the platform modern, secure, and effective. Failure to do so will render YouNow a target for hackers, exploiters and inevitably lead to it's downfall in its primary demographic.

For this reason -- myself and the YouNow community petition YouNow Inc. to take advantage of modern HTML5 video and implementation of higher resolution streaming options. All of these components would allow the creators and frequent streamers of the platform to utilize modern, effective, and most importantly, secure forms of content distribution.
