Petition to reconsider the use of Yondr phone pouches at Abilene High School. To Abilene High School administration and Abilene ISD. We, the undersigned, respectfully request that Abilene High School and Abilene ISD reconsider the mandatory use of Yondr phone pouches. We understand the goal of reducing distractions and improving learning. However, we believe the current policy raises important concerns regarding Safety, communication, and family peace of mind. In an emergency, students may not be able to quickly contact parents, guardians or emergency services, Parents may be unable to reach their children when urgent situations arise. Many students use their phones for legitimate educational purposes, health needs, or family responsibilities. And we believe there are alternative ways to address classroom distractions without preventing students from accessing their phones throughout the school day. We respectfully ask the district to review this policy and consider solutions that balance classroom focus with student safety and family communication
