Put a Stop to Fireworks!!

Put a Stop to Fireworks!!
The Issue
It's time to put fireworks to rest. In a world where we know so much more about the damaging effects our trash and selfish lifestyle choices have on our environment, WE CAN DO Better. Other cities in the US and Vancouver have already put an end to it. It's time to stop living in the past and time to start educating others and using our knowledge and power for those who don't have voice. The elderly, our children, our fur-children and our precious wildlife. There are other activities you can do to mark important events and to honor the holiday you celebrate without harming people’s health, polluting the environment, and creating so much havoc on wildlife. For example, go birding or cycling. Perhaps a parade, or organize a block party or community concert. Go hiking and camping, star gazing, or help others by volunteering at a local shelter. These all seem like very Candian ideas EH?!
*** Fireworks create highly toxic gases and pollutants that poison the air, the water and the soil, making them toxic to birds, wildlife, pets, livestock, and people!
*** Children, adults and even the elderly with sensory processing disorders are deeply affected
***They damage personal property—in some cases, catastrophically.
***They damage public property—in some cases, catastrophically.
***They create trash; the parties responsible usually do not clean up the remains.
***They terrorize our pets, very literally.
***They blow up the fingers and hands of users, even the most experienced and careful among them.
*** They disrupt our neighbors with noise.
*** They cause chaos with birds. They will simultaneously explode into the night skies in utter panic, which can lead to huge numbers of deaths, usually because these birds either smash their skulls or break their necks as the result of flying into trees, fences, billboards, houses and other solid objects that they cannot see. They can abandon nests, and even the fireworks themselves can destroy nests.
There is just too much research and information out now that points and blatantly suggests that this should stop. Please join the petition to end the use of fireworks in Newmarket Ontario.
