Preserve the Londons' Newsagents Signs

Preserve the Londons' Newsagents Signs
The Issue
As a child growing up in Heworth, Londons' newsagents was the place you went to spend your birthday or Christmas money. When I was 13, Derek London gave me my first job as a paper girl in the 1980s. Over the years, the shop gave thousands of other young people like me a start.
It's very sad that the shop is to close after over 100 years of trading.
The shop is a cornerstone of the local community and its signs are part of the fabric of the local community. They are iconic and should be preserved!
Therefore we are calling on York City Council and York Museums Trust to take steps to preserve the signs from the shop so that future generations can be reminded of how shops should be at the heart of the local community - wherever possible, giving young people a start.
If you have a Londons' story to tell - share it when you sign!
