Let the Board of Zoning Appeals variance for Tom & Karen Rogers' tiny house stand

In the Historic Triangle, where America's freedom began, it is important that York County's only independent board not be stifled, citizens not be subject to harsh retribution for the mistakes of government, affordable housing be obtainable, commonsense be valued, and government be a flexible entity responsible for supporting the welfare of ALL citizens.
The Rogers' Tiny Home is built to withstand 130 mph winds - built better than many expensive houses and to standards that exceed HUD mobile home requirements. It is a little over 400 square feet, plus a loft and screened porch. Tiny Houses are the future, because they are environmentally responsible and perfect for singles, small families, and retirees. Landscaped developments are very attractive.
York County approved the electric hookup when the Rogers placed their custom fifth wheel RV in a small privately owned mobile home in 2007 (they were told by the Codes Department that private park owners could "put whatever they want in their own park"). They paid taxes and were never bothered (they later found out that no one in county administration even knew of the park's existence - upper York County is virtually ignored) so thought nothing of replacing their RV, when it was crushed by a tree, with a tiny home.
Codes, however, had $1,150 of electric work destroyed and ordered them to remove their home because it does not have a HUD "sticker." (It is important to note that HUD only approves specs as it has no inspectors.) They refused to look at the home's specs, which exceed HUD standards.
The Rogers appeal for a variance was granted by the county's only independent board, the Board of Zoning Appeals. Because the county wants to prevent the advent of affordable housing, was embarrassed by their own mistakes, and wants to control the BZA, they have now appealed the decision.
Please stand for independence, fairness, and affordable housing by signing this petition.
