The DiChiaro community is not in favor of changing our school hours.  We understand the district would benefit from this change financially but the cost to our families and faculty is just too much. 

It has been confirmed that if this should happen, we would lose teachers and members of our staff.  We would lose many of these amazing individuals due to childcare issues. They are what makes DiChiaro great and the schedule change is not worth the loss.

In addition, almost eighty percent of our students take the bus to school and these children will have to be at their designated bus stops an hour earlier. We are concerned about the safety of these children knowing that they would be waiting for the bus before sunrise. 

For many of our families, a change in school hours is disruptive to their daily routine.  With changing school hours, it’s important to remember that our parents’ 9 - 5 work schedules will not change. Our families will be reaching into their already challenged pockets in order to make childcare arrangements to accommodate an earlier dismissal.

The DiChiaro PTA cares about our community and we wish to see it thrive…just not at the expense of our children.
