Please Translate the Saiunkoku Monogatari Light Novels into English

Saiunkoku Monogatari ("The Story of Saiunkoku") is a Japanese anime and manga series based on light novels written by Sai Yukino. There are 22 light novels (including 4 side stories), from which nine manga and two seasons of anime have been produced. The series was created in 2003 and, as the last light novel was published in 2011, it is now complete.

Viz has already translated the manga into English, but because only nine volumes were ever created, the manga is incomplete. Furthermore while there are two seasons of anime, only the first one was released in North America, meaning many fans have had to view or download the second season online in order to finish it.

Since Viz first published the manga in English, the rights have been transferred to Yen Press. Yen Press has a division specifically for translating light novels, called YenON, and it is they who we are appealing to with this petition.

Having the light novels translated to English would allow the series to reach a wider audience, and allow fans who don't speak Japanese access to the complete and original story, instead of having to rely on the manga or anime for alternate tellings. Many fans on Facebook (some of whom live outside of Japan and North America) have stated that they would love to read the series, but don't understand Japanese, thus limited their exposure to the series to just the anime and the manga.

We ask that Yen Press (YenON) consider translating the Saiunkoku light novels into English and releasing them in North America, so that more fans can enjoy the original Saiunkou Monogatari series in its full glory.

Thank you for your time and your support.
