Dwayne A Mitchell didn't deserve to die

Dwayne A Mitchell didn't deserve to die
The Issue
Dwayne A Mitchell died in the custody of Yazoo City Prison due to negligence and disparity of treatment while fighting for his life during Covid 19 Pandemic, he was healthy and young and was due to be released July 2020. Dwayne suffered for several weeks and was not given the proper care and treatment and died June 4, 2020. This should have never happened and it continues to happen. Many are left with unanswered questions and heartbroken. The judicial system is set up to destroy those who enter the system. The Governor as well as the Warden were well aware of the fatality of the pandemic and made no preparation for staff or inmates, any inmate who has/had contracted COVID contracted it from a federal employee, staff are not tested or having their temperature checked as they enter the compound which leaves inmates vulnerable and at risk. Dwayne was sick since April and was told he had a simple cold, he was not seen by a physician nor was he taken to the hospital as he was experiencing chest pains, chills, headaches and other symptoms of COVID! This is a form of police/ judicial brutality against African American inmates, a form of systemic abuse, violence and discrimination. They took away someone who is loved, needed and important. Dwayne A Mitchell deserves to be here, he didn't deserve to die! Please sign this petition as a voice for Dwayne Antonio Mitchell and all those who have died alone in prison! Rest in Power!
