Yarra Valley Water have announced that they are AGAIN planning to build a sewage treatment plant at Tram Road Reserve in Doncaster, after their atrocious plans to use Eram Park, Box Hill North, fell through.  This is Yarra Valley Water’s third attempt to proceed with this plant in residential areas using valuable local parkland and posing unacceptable impact on local residents including smell, noise, potential for environmental damage and loss of open space parkland. 

When they fail at Tram Road Reserve, where will they try next?  This ridiculous farce of a project has been going on since 2010 and needs to be stopped NOW!  Manningham and Whitehorse residents and councils need to come together to Say NO to the Sewerage Treatment Plant!

Residents need to know that this is a SEWERAGE treatment plant! Sewerage will be treated at the park with toxic chemicals bought in and out of the park by trucks going up and down steep suburban local traffic only streets.

Yarra Valley Water continually FAIL to use the word sewerage/sewage in their communications therefore deceiving the public on what this project really is. This sewage treatment plant will only service 5,000 residents within the Doncaster Hill precinct. There is no option for future expansion. It will not bring recycled water to existing homes within Manningham only those within the Doncaster Hill precinct that have purple pipes installed. Don't be fooled that you will have recycled water available to you - it's another deceptive tactic by Yarra Valley Water.

No buildings or factories should ever go into parkland.  A quote from our current Victorian Premier: "That’s why a re-elected Andrews Labor Government will create new parklands in our suburbs, more than 170 times the size of the Royal Botanic Gardens, to make sure that every Victorian family has a great local park, no matter where they live. Labor will create more than 6,500 hectares of parkland and new walking and bike trails right across Melbourne, giving families great places to spend a day off."  It is not acceptable that our Victorian Government can make these statements yet allow Yarra Valley Water to destroy some of our remaining parkland and place our Koornung creek in jeopardy.

We demand:

• No sewerage plant be placed at Tram Road Reserve
• No loss of precious parkland in Manningham or Whitehorse
• No sewerage plant be located close to houses in Manningham or Whitehorse areas.
• No sewerage plant presenting risk to our local creeks and environment.
• Consideration of better, larger, expandable longer term options away from residences
