RULES, RULES, RULES, AND MORE RULES AT THE YARCOBR

At the July 15, 2024 Board meeting, the topic of requiring guests and all family members to be accompanied by the Club owner, at all club amenities, was discussed.

In other words, if your son is visiting you during the Christmas holiday but is staying at a nearby Airbnb, you must accompany him at all times. If he goes to the beach, you must go to the beach. If he eats at the Chickee Bar, you must be there as well.

While I love my son, do I want to be with him constantly? Do I need to supervise him now that he is 40 years old?

This rule applies to everyone: your aunt, mom, and all other guests. Anyone not residing with the owner. 

During Christmas, I have both my son and daughter visiting. My kids have been coming to YARCOBR every Christmas for over 39 years, longer than any of the current Board members. If my son wants to go to the beach and my daughter prefers to sit by the pool, what am I supposed to do?

This rule might be considered overreach for several reasons:

Lack of Flexibility: The rule does not account for the independence of adult guests, forcing them to be constantly supervised, which is impractical and unnecessary.

Unreasonable Burden: It places an undue burden on hosts who may have multiple guests with different preferences, making it impossible to accompany all of them simultaneously.

Impact on Traditions: Long-standing traditions and family visits, such as mine during Christmas, are disrupted, affecting the overall enjoyment of our time together.

Excessive Monitoring: Hiring extra staff to enforce this rule creates an atmosphere of excessive scrutiny, which can be intrusive and uncomfortable for everyone.

This particular rule needs to be voided during the Christmas holiday season. However, the Board seems determined to enforce it, even hiring extra staff to question everyone at the beach, pool, Chickee Bar, and other amenities.
