Xunta de Galicia in the order of 25th June, amended on 22nd July, prohibits any physical activity or non-federated sport indoors, forcing the closure of gyms, sports centers, Pilates and yoga centers and schools, and any type of physical education that it is not within a teacher training center, that's to say those centers where such activities are carried out that they have been telling us for a long time are so beneficial for our health.  

They seem to forget that the Commission of Culture and Sport of the Congress of Deputies, in the month of February declared "Physical Activity and Sport as 'Essential Activity' for being and having a clear benefit on the health of people who practice it, emphasizing its essentiality in the context of the COVID-19 health pandemic ”.  

The committee of experts and the president of the Xunta, Alberto Núñez Feijóo equate the restrictions of physical activity with those of nightlife, completely ignoring the data detailing the risk of infection in sports centers, which is negligible.  

In these centers it is necessary to maintain interpersonal distance at all times, we have reduced capacity to 50%, masks cannot be removed at any time, directed activities are done in groups of 6  people who also maintain a safe distance without exceeding 50 % of the capacity, and the material used is disinfected after each use, among other measures. The incidence of infection is minimal,  but passing to the maximum level of restrictions directly prohibits physical activity and sports indoors, which is clearly discriminatory compared to other sectors with much higher incidence of infection that remain open.  

We ask that you let us work immediately, at least in non-discriminatory conditions with  respect to other sectors, as we have no higher incidence of infections.  

We also ask that the measures be reviewed, as in many of these activities, such as Yoga and  Pilates, among others, it is not being taken into account that there is not even movement in the  classroom, but that each student remains in his or her mat or machine. at all times, and so there is no  possibility of contact, so they could be equated to the measures of other similar sectors, such as  dance schools or teacher training centers for such activities, in which the gauging and distance are  taken as reference. For the Xunta de Galicia that there is a monitor is what determines that it is  necessary to make groups of 6, if the same activity were done without supervision it would simply  be necessary to comply with the capacity and distance. Why if we keep our distance one by one, are  we considered a grouping of people as if we were without distance limiting classes aimed at groups  of 6, even without monitor contact? Is the teacher or monitor more contagious than a doctor,  physiotherapist, waitress, supermarket cashier, shop assistant ...?  

In case the data is not enough, I invite the experts of the Xunta and the President Alberto Núñez  Feijóo to visit my center, or any other of the guild, or a gym and check the measures taken,  the protocols of entry and exit of the classes, the disinfection protocol etc. and after tell us if it’s  really more dangerous to do Yoga or Pilates, go to the gym and so on than going to a crowded mall  or having a few beers, and why. Let them tell us what they have based their decision to close  these activities on and why others not. 

It really gives the impression that the authorities issuing this order have long been without stepping inside physical activities or sports centre, and without listening to their representatives, who have long been demanding changes, COLEF Galicia and other entities, through the Galician Platform for Defense of Physical Education, Physical Activity and Sport, issued on July 29th, 2021 a  statement denouncing themeasures in force for our union, can be seen on its website and on its  twitter, in which they say: "THE MAXIMUM RESTRICTIONS TO WHICH SUBMITTING  THE PRACTICE OF PHYSICAL ACTIVITY INDOORS ARE INCONGRUENT ...  UNFAIR ... AND DISCRIMINATORY ... ”.  

Many centres and gyms have been closed for weeks, others, such as in Pobra do Caramiñal  are closing for the fourth time, only in 2021. In A Mariña, Foz, Burela and Viveiro, as in other  tourist areas, where we spent the maximum level last July week we closed from July 31 , some  may not be able to bear one more closure, like so many others in this pandemic, there is no help  provided by the Xunta for these closures by municipalities. Now maybe you're on vacation and you  don't think about it, you don't realise it, but when you come home and want to come back to the  kind of activity that you liked so much, the one that made you feel so good for your back, or the one  where the stress melted away, when the summer is over and you have to shelter from the rain to run  or ride a bike etc. you may find a door closed forever.
