On the 31st of January 2024, the XL Bully breed became illegal to own. The only way to own  this breed is for the dog to be mirochipped,licensed, exempt and neutered. Many XL Bullys have now been put to sleep because owners either couldn’t afford the requirements or the dogs weren't rehoused. A huge amount of the dogs were seized and held in kennels for months to be assessed, then the owners go to court to fight for their dogs. This is awful but it's the law and we must comply to keep our baby's safe. I'm asking the government to please allow a 2nd chance of exemption for owners. I believe most people would want this opportunity. It wod save the government a lot of money with kennels being filled with unlicensed dogs, vets being used to euthanise the dogs, court costs and so on.
