Help Save My Parents From Torture and Possible Death in a Chinese Prison

On Dec 5, 2015 my father Guofu Yao and my mother Xin Liang were abducted from their home by 30 Chinese police, along with 3 other Falun Gong practitioners. The 6th person, Xiao Wang, my parents' neighbor tried to escape by jumping out the window and fell to his death.

I fear they will not only face torture, as I had, but also death at the hands of merciless Chinese officials bent on breaking their will to practice Falun Gong by subjecting them to round-the-clock brainwashing sessions and horrific mental and physical torture.

Falun Gong practitioners have experienced beatings with electric batons, being submerged in sewer water while locked in a tiny metal cage, gang rape and the unpeakable act of live organ harvesting often without anesthesia with 3925 documented deaths. The number is estimated to be significantly higher, upwards of tens of thousands but due to the information blockade cannot be verified.

On Oct 23, 2011 I was a Ph.D. student when my life changed forever.

I was illegally imprisoned in a Chinese labor camp for nearly 2 years and to this day cannot rid my mind of the unimaginable suffering and torment I both experienced and witnessed there. I was not able to continue my studies and eventually sought asylum in the U.S. for fear of my life.

They were the darkest months of my life.

I was imprisoned simple because I practice a gentle mind-body meditation system called Falun Gong. Falun Gong consists of four slow moving exercises and a meditation practice based on the universal principles of Truth-Compassion-Tolerance. Falun Gong is practiced peacefully everywhere around the world by over 100 million people who have experienced innumerable health benefits and elevation in moral character.

Everywhere that is except for China.

In China the simple act of meditating in a park or at home can become a life or death choice.

By 1999 there were more people practicing Falun Gong then Chinese Communist Party members which ignited the irrational fears of then president, Jiang Zemin who began a brutal suppression of the practice on July 20, 1999. This has led to millions of families being torn apart, untold loss of life and property and unimaginable suffering.

It was pressure from international human rights organizations that saved my life, eventually toppling the infamous labor camp system in Mainland China in 2013, ending decades of bloody state sanctioned torment in the form of ‘Re-education through labor.’

When I heard news of my parents' arrest my heart was broken into pieces, memories of my own suffering have once again shrouded me in darkness.

I urge the U.S. government and the people of the U.S. to rescue my parents from possible death and sign this petition.
