Xfinity: Remove dangerous crib from the Xfinity Baby ad

Six-month-old Aiden never even had a chance to cry. Medical experts reported that Aiden died silently, suffocating on oxygen-depleted air in the corner of his crib, trapped by his crib’s bumper pad. His mother, only a few feet away, had no idea.
Aiden was not the first baby, nor will he be the last, to suffocate due to a seemingly harmless crib bumper pad. Although these bumpers are marketed – in a wide array of fashionably cute designs – to protect babies from injury, they have in many cases done quite the opposite. Child safety experts and government agencies across the country agree that crib bumper pads are at best a potential safety risk, and at worst; lethal to the babies they are meant to protect.
Xfinity’s commercial spotlighting a baby in his crib while the family’s old alarm system is crunching on chips is a catchy commercial. Xfinity is attempting to communicate the importance of ensuring the baby's safety, but Xfinity failed to demonstrate a safe crib to the public – instead they advertised a very unsafe crib.
Xfinity’s crib had toys, pillows and a bumper pad, which is becoming illegal to buy and sell in different cities in the U.S. The images of a happy child in a dangerous crib can confuse caregivers and give the impression that what is dangerous is actually safe. We cannot afford ads that make dangerous cribs seem normal.
