We want to abolish the community system in the Xavier school system. We feel it provides no benefit and majority of students do not enjoy it. Students want to bond with people their own age and in their own grade. These are the people we take majority of classes with. If students want to get to know people in other grades there are plenty of other ways such as sports and friends. Students are also required to take 7-8 classes meaning most students have a large workload. They need time to work on homework in school and time to talk to teachers and retake tests. Having house limits students only having a study hall Tuesday and Thursday(because there is none on Wednesday). Furthermore when a poll was taken about what students want to do in house most elected to have a study hall. While some of the activities have potential to be fun, students ruin most activities. Also forced participation is absolutely ridiculous students who don’t want to do an activity should not have to. Also the workload of the house leader is too much they are seniors in high school they have many other things they have to do.
